You can try the review swap circle jerk, but that can backfire as well.

Or just do your own thing like I do. You don't need others to get readers on RR. But you will likely get more bad ratings. My story dropped from 4.5 to 4.25 and will probably drop some more.

@JayMark Thanks. But I'll leave my fiction as is. I already know it won't be popular on R*. Besides, I'm just writing it as a hobby right now.

It's like a thing new writers must do to stay on rising stars, but if they swap with the wrong person they can get review bombed in exchange for a good rating with no recourse. This doesn't happen often though because it would discourage the review swap culture.

You don't have to swap to stay on rising stars. (From someone on there rn.)

Being popular on RR is a matter of having a good relationship with a few of the right people.

@Envylope Not saying you have to, saying its a big part of it, especially for writers challenging the most competitive styles there with no large following elsewhere. Anything is possible. I'm massively unpopular on RR and I dont review swap.

The reality is that writing is a very competitive industry. You will get discovered if you have a style and story readers enjoy. It will take a while, but it will happen. Doesn't help that a lot of people cheat. There is nepotism and shoutouts from popular authors...But if you are writing something that appeals to RR it will get found with time. Cheats basically speed up the process. Like buying an ad.

I did buy an ad on a RR, true story, I still have some left for when I start posting there again. Someone came into my comment section and scolded me for using an ad when my story is rated under 3 stars and obviously so bad they'd never bother to read it. I gave them the finger and proceeded to crash out. No regrets to this day.

The people at RR are only high-strung and edgy because they've never tasted futa [REDACTED].

It's not all bad. It produced a very cool theme for my story. I pulled through and kept writing. Then publishing on Scribble Hub helped save me from my RR depresions. Ya'll kept my spirits high and kept me writing. So I'm very grateful for here. Love ya'll. 💓

@JayMark Now that I've lifted your spirits, you can pay me back by writing a hardcore smut futafic.

:blob_teary: I take it all back.

nevermind, I'll do it, one word at a time in the LTCW.

I stand by my opinion that writers who pour their heart into their work dont deserve to get anything less than a 3 star, and you should treat a rating lower than that as either a matter of mismatched taste or any other reason you can come up with, but not the skill itself.

@JayMark, you can make it more hardcore than any other futafic in history! I'm talking monogamy, hand-holding, slow-burn romance...

Critical Note:
Now I know... that low-rating reader is a ghost. That person followed my fic yesterday... left a 1.5 rating today and unfollowed my fic. I can just imagine that person's smile. Lol. :blob_melt:

Those people are usually jealous authors. Almost never actual readers. Readers might leave a low rating only if something is seriously wrong or they just don't like the writing, which is usually after reading around 10k words or so.

Theres also the trend I've seen on RR where peeps are not just jealous, but just dont like things the author said on the forum so they go 1 star bomb their stories. Lot of threads about it. Kinda crazy go out of their way to do something that pointless. lol

Yeah, avoiding forums there helps a bit.
