I know enough about stuff that in a post-apocalyptic settlement world, there can be some kind of currency to be more interesting. But I am not smart enough to know how a feudal world settlement can start making a currency work.

If it is a post-apocalyptic world, with roaming monsters and everyone has guns/powers, and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of "tribes", villages or pockets of rulers.
How long will it take for big countries to be established again? A year? a decade? a century?
