  • Top 5 white boys of all time (no particular order):

    1. John Brown
    2. Oskar Schindler
    3. Anthony Bourdain
    4. David Bowie
    5. Genghis Khan (iykyk)

    Honorable mentions:
    1. Jesus Christ
Rewatched Night is Short, Walk On Girl. Only felt right after finishing The Tatami Galaxy, though I first saw the former way before I did the latter.

Incredible movie. Like Yes Theory by way of Durarara, in an ocean of booze. Unmatched lively atmosphere, lived in by an endlessly endearing cast of characters and one hell of a protagonist. It's also good knowing who all the cameos are this time.

    Light to decent 9.

Tired of Mariah Carey? If so, krill yourself.

But also, ho ho how about some obscure indie rock for Christmas? Whether you're already in the nice list, naughty list, or the ⬛⬛⬛ list, this one will put you firmly in Shrimp's cool kids list.

In a way, discovering niche artists is like childhood Christmas.
Finally finished watching The Tatami Galaxy. Pretty cool show. If only I watched it 4 years earlier, I could've had a more authentic campus life, but maybe feeling regret about that goes against the message in the first place. Anyway, I might've had unreasonable expectations for the show because of its reputation, but it was enjoyable all the way through. The final 2 episodes in particular were stellar.

The folks over at The Promise Ring really nailed the feeling of suburban melancholia when they decided to write a 2 minute song with nonsense lyrics, a static 2 chord vamp, and the most good-bad vocals this side of the midwest
Coworker is really hooked on one of the new Taylor Swift songs, and it just so happened to be the one with a chorus that I just irrationally hate

The First Take version coming out reminded me just how much of a poignant, understated banger this ending song was. I wasn't like a day 1 Naruto fan. I really only watched it in elementary school. Even so, the first few openings and endings never fail to make me feel something. Also this song's in 5/4 time, which is cool.
I was reading White Nights by Dostoevsky on one of my lunch breaks, but I ended off in the middle of one of the guy's trademark yap sessions. It's been a couple of days since then, and now I don't remember where I'm supposed to continue. I guess I'll just read the yapping from the very beginning to make sure I don't lose anything

This is the point where you suddenly wake up reincarnated inside the book you're reading so the author can teach you a life lesson. :blob_aww:

Dear god, I would rather die then reincarnate into one of his books. There's almost no good endings for any of his characters...

Well, at least almost all of them are nobles and have enough money to live a comfortable life, instead of plowing the feilds... :blob_hmm_two:

I was about to say how some people want to be ruined. If you can't fix her, let Dostoevsky fix you or something. :blob_evil:

Pinkerton is a special album. To see a band go from overnight sensations to scaring the hoes. To see Rivers Cuomo go from the cute dude in the music video for Buddy Holly to a guy with yellow fever.

El Scorcho is a very loser song, and it found me at a very loser time in my life. I think there is value in that. We can't be winners all the time, so here's to being a loser.
