    Is there such a thing as Progressive Sci-Fi? The protagonist still grows, but the setting is more sci-fi than fantasy?

    I didn't know the character in Red Rising would get stronger. I thought he'd just rise in status within society. Been trying to find opportunities to read, but I'm busy. Red Rising had been on the backlog of novels I wanted to read.

    I mean, Progression Sci-Fi may be like Star Wars? It's a bit lacking of an example, but if the story focused more on becoming more powerful, maybe.

    Problem I've been dealing lately is how I loved my side characters too much. With my latest book, I ended giving them their own screen time to move the story, complete with entire arcs, leaving the MC moving behind the scenes as their hidden overlord. PS, my MC was the biggest reason people wanted to read the novel, and now I am failing to give the MC the spotlight. Admittedly, my side characters deserve it too.

    If readers who pay you like everything, keep doing it. If not, forget about it. Forming parasocial relationship with them won't do you any good if you want money. You provide entertainment and they pay you for it. Do you pay your friends to play games with you or watch movies? When you get too close with them it becomes weird. Well, personally I feel that way.

    It's fine. It's useful advice. Keep it professional, something I ought to keep in mind. I have no clue if there's a patron in my Discord, but they're pretty chill. We sometimes talk about the plot of the novel or novels we like.

    IMO, if famous Chinese novels were turned into manga, they'd be killing it.

    Yeah, its a old "classic" (quality meaning).

    Dang... I didnt expect it to have this kind of details. Or at least, strangely i didnt hear people mention them before.

    To be honest. I miss this "gov is shit" / "the politicians are assholes and try to fuck over MC" details.

    The last one i ever read was where MC had a urban animal shop and got a panda in early arc.
    And the "gov guys" (some sort of concil of middle aged random dudes), a fat guy propose to simply threaten MC "for the good of the country"
    and a old man say that "nowadays this kind of reasons dont work anymore"

    It feels..................strangely unreal but cant point where.

    Its "good" to see that compared to them being evil but somehow you miss the bs atrocious trope of "gov is douche" in crappy writing.

    Yeah, that was pretty much it. I used to hang around such sites before I discovered SH and RR. They have a lot of stolen stuff, really. I wish they 'the readers' would find their way to RR or SH. Before I had my first breakthrough novel, I imagined myself being angry at seeing my novel on an aggregated site the first chance I got. It's a guilty pleasure. Life's hard, so I guessed I could indulge in them a bit.

    How do you cope when writing depresses you? The most depressing part is probably when a fan of your novel gets disappointed. They are not even a troll. Just a fan who seems to enjoy the story, but then gets disappointed by the development one day.

    This is pretty random. I want to isekai something. Tell me the most ridiculous isekai'd character you could think of. Chances are, I might 'steal' it with your permission. Right now, for me, it was my missing black cat, sasuke, who I want to isekai. Or maybe the thief that stole the cat and send them to a horror-esque world. sigh...

    I've done cats for some time now. One of them clicked, but quickly got abandoned because of my impulsiveness to write other stuff. TBH, a sloth sounds fun. Make it so that sloths don't exist in the other world, so it was perceived as a strange species. My angle would be Sloth becoming a demon lord as he became stronger with the Sin of Sloth as his theme.

    Oh, now I am embarrassed. Thanks. It is interesting to see SH evolve as a site, as more and more aspiring writers try their hand with the art. I am a bit bummed my novel didn't get that long enough exposure in Latest Series, something I got used to. But it was the price of progress, I guessed. I just have to work harder at it.

    It was bad luck. A lot of people published novels around the same time, and you got pushed out quickly. Sadly, it happens, with the site being popular and stories being uploaded hourly.

    Once, I dreamt that I was a fish. I got caught on a fishing hook, but when I came out of the water, I was as large as a house, and the guy who pulled me out was just a regular guy in a small wooden fishing boat. I ate him and his boat, then went back into the primordial soup basin.

    My heart aches with pain... How do you deal with agressive/angry/hurtful comments... I tried to engage them constructively and politely, but my heart still aches... Some of them have too much hate, man... Last time it happened to me, I thought 'anger' might be a good motivation. Now, it is happening again, I am just tired and my motivation is dying.

    I am singing out loud Shape of You with the music and on. While singing along, I finally realized in disgust it was about... sex... Of course, it's a romantic song and I liked it, but how in the world it never crossed my mind it was about love making in a more explicit sense? Hahaha... Am I growing up?

    Really? Muted? I am really confident with my entry and felt bummed out with the lack of readership... Most who comment have entry of there own. I feel like only 'writers' exist there and barely any reader who was there for the sake of reading. Admittedly, I lurk on other works and they have decent readership. I realize it has something to do with existing readers already.
