I don't even listen to Dream Theater, but this goes hard as hell. Shoutout to all my Guitar Hero players out there who thought this song was called YYZ

Who knew prog metal could be fun
A manga I really liked finally got fully translated, but it's been so long that I don't even remember where I left off :sweating_profusely:

Some people, during NDE, do experience an afterlife that contradicts their religion. Many change their religion after this. The weirdest are those who experience a religion they have no clue about and have to search to know what it was.
Massive fire in front of my neighborhood :sweating_profusely:

    Hope it's all safe

Look man, I live in a tropical country. I don't know when summer ends, but I'll pretend it's the end of summer.

This song is like regressing into my past life as a teenage boy in suburban Illinois feeling heartbreak for the first time.

    Powerful stuff.

It's slow as hell. Not even a slow burn. Just slow.

But the guitar work is some of my favorite. One of the best riffs in 7/4. It doesn't even feel weird or janky, and the two guitars together are just so delicate.
I feel like buying a hand frother

    And a chef's press

    And a digital thermometer

    And fancy butters

    And rare imported instant ramen

And those straws with flavored balls in them that you drink milk out of to make it taste better

    I think I'm a slave to consumerism

How can we know if it's actual communism or not if there is no such thing as an actual communism? Then the answer is usually something else disguised as communism.

19 millions jobs opportunity for shrimps.
There's a fly perching on an excess, untrimmed portion of string dangling out of my guitar's tuning post.

This would make a sick album cover

Absolutely disgusting song and message. Just classless, degenerate songwriting. You can hardly even call it music, it's so vile. I feel violated just listening to this hateful filth

Well, it's Indonesia's 80th birthday, but I didn't really think through what I wanted to recommend for the big day

So here's another bizarre anonymous street punk song, this time one about weed and hedonism that was either sung by a prepubescent boy or a young woman

This song went so hard in middleschool

There's actually a lot more stuff of substance I could talk about regarding Indonesian music, like:
    1. Gamelan music being used in a lot of anime soundtracks, like Akira and Bakemonogatari
    2. Gamelan music inspiring Debussy, Satie (I think), and the greatest composer: Robert Fripp
    3. Dutch-Indonesian rock band Tielman Brothers from the 50s

    4. That one Spinal Tap clip

Revenge, as tantalizing as it may be, doesn't fix anything. Especially for the most heinous of evils :blob_hmm_two:

The few times folks tried to get revenge for a genocide ended up with absolutely nothing gained.

The only path forward is truth, reconciliation, and justice

Of course I'm speaking from the position of someone who has never been genocided :sweating_profusely:

This shit sounds like ass until you reach the last song. Then you are thrown into an ethereal plain of pain and sorrow out of nowhere. Had this album in my cd collection for years.

In Indonesia, "punk" doesn't really sound like you'd think, a lot of the time. Punk can mean anything really. No need for high tempo power chords and angry vocals. Even just a bunch of kids singing over a ukulele is punk.

    And that's what this is.

Punk Street Indonesia is a legendary song by who the fuck even knows.

That's the thing with these songs. They're made by a bunch of kids while the internet was still in its infancy here, and no one really cares to figure out who they are. You gotta be in the know to know, you know.

Anyway, this song is like American Pie. Epic in length and very topical.

Except it doesn't try to shroud any of its meaning in metaphor. It's very on the nose, as punk tends to be.

It's a nice little time capsule from Indonesian society circa 2000-ish.

Anyway, I also have an actual punk recommendation

Teenage Death Star are a hardcore punk band managed by one of my old college professors. Very cool. He also seems like a pretty cool guy, except for that time he discouraged his students from taking the day off to protest. Not very punk.

Funnily enough, when I spent a semester in the UK, the professors were the ones on strike.
