  • Daily music recommendation #8 SPOOKY EDITION :devilish:

The Spiderland album is a spooky masterpiece, but this track features one of the most spine-chilling riffs in rock music. It takes full advantage of the odd meter and dissonant intervals, creating a track that creeps under your skin. Like a spider. Land.

Listen to Spiderland. It's so good and unlike anything else.
Question: Are there actually any good anitubers left?

I feel the days of anitube are over. It's mostly culture war slop, shortform bullshit, or guys talking about manga they like with the depth of a snail trail.

The only people still making good analysis content are like, trans people talking about the most niche shit imaginable.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
Busted my ass off to get my short stories done in time for the competition, only for them to extend the deadline by almost a month a day after the initial deadline :blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor:

One of the emo-flavored pop punk acts of the late 90s that failed to truly break into the mainstream. But unlike other bands of their ilk, The Get Up Kids do not suck. Holiday has incredible energy from the get-go and a chorus that takes you right back to seeing your highschool crush kiss someone under the bleachers. It's the pinnacle of pop punk.
Coalposting in the scribblehub forums? More likely than you think

Inspired by Carrie Mae Weems' Kitchen Table series, this shit's absolute fire. Gorgeous, maximalist instrumentation over which Dixon and Guevara deliver some of the most poignant bars in hip-hop, touching on the bonds formed and broken between family. The hook will be stuck in your head for days. Listen if you like "lyrical" or jazz rap at all.

Moving away from rock, here is one of the most gorgeous songs ever. And uhh, I can't think of anything else. I'm operating on less than 2 hours of sleep. Listen if you like pretty sounds and soft British men.

    R.I.P Nick Drake.
I had a coffee before going to bed for the night, thinking I'd be okay. Ended up needing almost 3 hours to fall asleep.

(how big is this image idk im on mobile. is it too big?)

A throwback to the greatest English-language anime opening ever (Yes, better than Duvet). A swirling, dreamy track that feels like the moment of enlightenment just before giving up. Check out the rest of the album too, it's full of gorgeous symphonic pop-rock with anthemic hooks and depressing lyrics that only could've come out of Glasgow.
I had a nightmare where I invited Charlie Kirk to speak at my campus and folks were clapping like seals for the bastard.

I find him annoying and awful but I don't think he would be enough to be a nightmare

hes ugly but not nightmare fuel. Brother Nathaniel is a lot uglier and he looks like he molests children for a living
You are a shady shrimp... Can I batter you, boil you in hot oil, cover you in sweet chili sauce, and then serve you over rice?

Though I may be a shrimp, I've been elevated to sapience by watching Evangelion analysis videos and Serial Experiments Lain edits. I have inalienable rights, including the right to life, just like you.

You may do so with other shrimps. In fact, I will assist you, so that when someone asks "You're saying a shrimp fried this rice?", you could answer with an emphatic yes.

Thanks for the help then. I will count on you to fry the rice in the future. I appreciate it.

This one's for my math rock girlies. Starts off with a blistering riff that just makes you wanna pick up a guitar and play, until you learn what tuning it's in. Just when you think you're getting used to the song's numerous sick guitar passages, it hits you with an absolutely anthemic extended "bridge" section.

A pulse-pounding, pants-shitting track that builds to a mollywop of a crescendo. It's sure to put some hairs on your chest, if you don't die first from an eargasm so intense it'll have the Cambrian period flashing before your eyes. Listen if you like prog, fusion, or have autism.
Anyone else ever write a story and then realize partway through that you're absolutely fucked? I'm working on a short story for a competition and I realize it's on pace to be at least 1000 words over the limit.

In situation of over or under the word limit, I would sort out each of the scenes in clear boundary. Pin point the core idea of every scene, figure out which interraction or event that isn't necessary just to get that core idea, then I delete (or add if I underwrite) the no longer needed scene(s) and move its core idea to other scenes, hopely making it more compact.

My future, editing self will keep that in mind. For now, I will trace this creative pest to the end of its trail.
So uhh... who y'alls got for the 2025 NBA champs? (Gotta be someone who watches basketball).

Lowkey want the Nuggets to win to balance out Jokic's MVP : ring ratio. You know, just to get him out of that Moses Malone zone. 3 MVPs with only 1 ring doesn't sit right with me, especially considering he could get his fourth this season.

Honestly, my gut says Boston. Won't be happy with it though. That team has zero aura.

You're talking about the Baltimore Basketballers. Yeah, they're a bit of a sleeper team. John Hooper is my vote for Most Improved Player.

If they somehow squeak past the play-in and all the way to the NBA finals without Jimmy, I think we'd need to have some Tyler Herro GOAT convos.

Listen if you like post-punk, industrial, shoegaze, being sad. This song feels like the cumbersome, absurd ascent of accepting one's own mortality.
