I honestly can't see how I can make another deduction from it. I remember the first time I was playing DS3, the most glee I felt was when I was exploring Cathedral of the Deep. I was moving carefully, memorizing the area and enemies placements. I saw this one place that had an ambush of those skinny enemies with axes.

One complaint about the Farren Swamp and blighttown is you can get good items, but killing enemies isn't that worth. Take those big fucking tree dudes in Farron, they don't even give you much for killing them.

I saw it, I smirked. You dare ambushing me like that? I threw a knife at the bastard, and killed him. Finally I can get the item. It was a double ambush and another one almost killed me. Damn... It was so satisfying seeing how the game tries to outwit me. They knew I knew. And they used it against me.

Your deduction is only like that because you enjoy those things more than I do. I never said I dont want them in the games entirely. I am certain I said I prefer less of them.

I wish soulslike would evolve in this direction.

Yeah, I enjoy using my wit and my muscle memory equally.

That's why it must be so hard being fromsoft. Imagine you have to listen to 5500 takes about your games, and then take what you believe to be the best route.

It's not hard cause they picked muscle memory.

They made their choice.

There is still exploration and wits in Elden Ring. I don't think its all muscle memory. You have a choice with the literally first boss after tutorial boss

ER teaches you to grind levels to make bosses easier, as with the tree sentinel.

No, its not just that. The dungeons still use the environment and traps

Yes. The ratio favors combat more which I prefer

There are two problems with this btw. Difficulty inflation or depreciation, not sure how to call it properly. With the way everyone asks for this type of difficulty, and want more "fair" bosses, sooner or later the game will get ridiculously hard. You already see it with ER DLC. And it will get worse. Soon the timings will get even more brutal.

Second, there are no games that capture the spirit of Demon Souls and DS1. And with how every developer thinking that evading attacks is what makes soulslike difficult and popular, we will lose those games. Concepts of those games if you will. Games that challenge you in a new way, or in a way you've not experienced for a long time.

Well, I feel like this will drag without concluding, so I will give you a cookie and a cat sip. :blob_cookie: :meowsip:
