hmm, yeah. I'm thinking more logically than as a writer. as a writer you can come up with any bullshit, especially in comics, for the villain to find out his secret identity.
@dummycake I always compare it to alcoholics who turned sober. They don't drink at all not because they are strong. It's the opposite. They can't drink even a glass of beer cause they won't stop at one glass. Obviously not all of them are like that, but at least some of them do it for this reason.
Oh I definitely don't think they would start killing if they transitioned.
*holds hands together in a praying gesture & gets on knees in my mind* I was just hoping against hope! Praying on top of praying!
anyways, I was writing a Death Note x Batman fanfic where Barbara Gordon kills all the villains with public names but I abandoned after thinking I'm not experience or smart enough to deal with the subtleties and questions that comes with such a scenario.
yeah, it's better to have nothing at all than to publish a mess. I have to start with more familiar concepts and simpler issues. killing bad people is an ageless philosophical question that I'm not ready to tackle in a fanfic.
- she finds the Death Note, kills every villain except Joker (he doesn't have a name in the database)
- Batman asks for magical help, but every magic user says they're not going to deal with Shinigamis, leaving him alone to find Justice (this is the nickname they gave her, idk)
- He somehow connects Justice and Barbara, but doesn't immediately go to her, his mind is a mess and he spends his nights thinking if everything he did was wrong, after all, after Justice killed (almost) every villain, Gotham has been more peaceful than ever before.
- He gets Dick Grayson to infiltrate Gotham City University with a fake name (Joker is still alive, so he knows Justice needs a name to kill)
- Dick falls in love with Barbara, but Barbara just uses him, suspecting that he's connected with the police or Batman, so she pretends to be in love with him too.
You can do it, but whether it's good or not will heavily rely on details and how you write it. And to be able to pull it off you will have to juggle the different canons of DC universe, which obviously means you have to know them. And that's bare minimum. Apart from knowing the lore, you should obviously concentrate on the actual theme.
- She slips in the shower and die of a concussion, I don't know how to kill her at this point except for a powerful hero finding out her identity or the magic users finally interfering, but that would prob feel cheap
@SailusGebel that's why I can never finish a fanfic, it takes too much effort to get everything right. people who write good fanfics are in another level, istg
Comic books of America are declining, but comics themselves, online and elsewhere, are more common and flourishing greater than ever! Indie creators like LavenderTowne get their comics out over online, and will break into the physical market from their startup success on things like webtoon or tapas.
