On another related note, what is a wizard to you? A bookworm? Someone who studies the mystic laws of the world and hack it?
Any examples of wizards doing a Dio and goes "I reject my humanity!" other than becoming a lich? Because I do feel odd that the topic of longevity for them is rarely present when talking about wizards.
On a related note, what is a chinese cultivator/ immortal to you? Ignoring the whole arrogant crap, they feel like Player Characters that gain EXP and then Level Up. They also feel like willing mutants, with each exp they gain to further mutate their body until evolution (level up) is achieved.
Any written/ visual works, games included, that explains the spell slot system? The system is basically a restriction, granting its user limited usage of spells of certain level. Unlike the mana point/ pool system where one can spam the same high level spells if their mana is enough, the spell slot system forces the magic user to think carefully whether or not to use their daily count of high level spells.
Perhaps it is my biasness to the language, but I often find chinese more approachable.
Not because I understand the language better, but because I don't.
That or english writers enjoy writing about the feelings, whereas CN is just KILL, MAIM, BURN. CHAOS WILL CONSUME YOU. And then happy happy superiority
