fish boy

EDIT: stingray, not manta ray.

Imagine you're reading a book (stretching your suspension of disbelief to its limits, I know) about a guy who gets isekaid to a pirate/nautical-themed story, and in the process he gets turned into some kind of fish man. Which of these two fish would you prefer: shark, or stingray?

Shark Pros: simple, familiar, intimidating, built in cool factor.
Shark Cons: possibly cliche, everyone uses sharks.

Ray Pros: not widely used, unique body shape could be used creatively, built in butt sword, wings for gliding maybe?
Ray Cons: more complicated, needs more explanation, gliding makes people complain about scientific inaccuracies, steve irwin.
Ray Guns: pew pew

Futa fish person?

Shark boy is already a thing...
Maybe go with manta ray...if you don't want that character to be violent. Cause manta rays are harmless, with very small teeth and no stingers and friendly.
There are other options like sword fish or sawfish maybe if you want violent.

I like the idea of Manta ray

You can also make rays fly or glide, too, so it's quite versatile in a sense
