It's hard to say, since there's more literature than any of us can hope to consume in a single lifestyle. I may pick up Mischosen, but the cover to Corner Store looks generic. When I see books like that in stores, or someone reading them, I don't see the appeal. We shouldn't judge books by their covers, but since you can't read every book, it's part of the vetting process. That being said, there's likely someone with the exact opposite opinion of me. I'd say a better test is asking people what they think the cover conveys, without any further context. If the opinions generally align with your goal, then you're doing a great job.
Mischosen is giving me a female-led, emotional story that's promising character intimacy that will leave the reader attached. Corner Store is giving me that this story is literally about a corner store, and there isn't a visual hook, so it leaves me wondering "why would I want to read about a corner store?"
This is just based off the covers, and has nothing to do with the qualities or themes of either. That being said, I see plenty of people reading books that look like Corner Store, I just think they're usually getting them from a marketable source, not just picking up a random book.
