Yes, sometimes we got good comments, funny comments, and nasty comments.

Since this is my first time writing series, I can get easily excited to reply the comments (the good and funny ones of course).

But most of the time, they didnt reply back after that. Which actually makes me feel pretty awkward :\

So please, o senior one, how shall this green author treat the comments?

Absolutely reply! As an avid commenter (comments on every chapter I read) I’m much more inclined to continue commenting if I get replies. Plus, it updates your stats faster and also registers as increased activity. More views ?

Listen to those two above me; they know what they're talking about.

I always reply, especially to the bots and "artists", asking if they can draw something for me for free since they liked my content so much.

Don't feel bad if you don't receive a reply. The comment is already a reply to your work, sort of, and the commenter might feel there is nothing left to add. There is no need to keep a conversation going just for the sake of replying.

I always reply. It's a fun process. But most people on SH do not comment.

Depends on the situation. If its just a "thanks for the chapter" comment I give them a like. If the comment is asking a question, I answer. If the comment is just pointing something out then I use my best judgment.
Sometimes its a one and done, sometimes there is more, but comments are not like real life where the conversation has to flow.

TLDR: Don't feel bad for letting a comment chain end.

I try to “star” every comment I get to at least show that I am reading them (even the negative ones) and often reply to questions and honest criticism when it comes up. Most of my replies go unanswered but I find the interaction with the readers gratifying in its own way, also if anyone comes later and reads them and they have a question it might already have been asked in the comments so it helps to answer the actual questions.

As a writing tip it helps a lot to read the comments, for me at least, the feedback helps a lot moving forward so I know what mistakes I made and what things might need clarification in the future for the story. Though I can say I have been rather fortunate as I haven’t received much, if any, “negative” feedback here so it has really helped me to interact with the readers; after all we might be the ones telling the story for our own reasons, but ultimately our stories are for them so it is gratifying to have their reactions and opinions.

As for not getting a reply, it happens; as someone pointed out the comments aren’t like an actual conversation. Sometimes the other person just got what they wanted and moved on and others you’ll just not want to go into detail about or not want to reply yourself and there is no harm in that; the comment chains are a lot of fun but can be rare and you just have to move on.

I like every comment and try to reply to them if I can or if the comment requires a reply. Since comments are rare in SH :blob_gift:

Understand that you'll probably get other "comments" from people who have the intent of bilking you, So treat comments with care. You'll get scammers and AI replies also. Those are relatively easy to spot, and if you're really curious who comments, check their profiles and "Activity". That will tell you everything you need to know usually.

I read all comments, but I do not reply to all comments. It depends on the nature of the comment, how I am feeling at the time, or how many comments I got in succession. If there are a lot of comments, I will simply read and like most of them. Especially if it's just: TYFTC :blob_cookie:
