    Anime to watch before isekai~ing

Saying 90s anime is "not old" compared to 70s/80s anime in 2024 is like saying the High Middle Ages aren't part of the Middle Ages in general. So, just for fun, I recommend OG Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star), from '86. 'Tis the anime that makes grown men shed the manliest of tears...

a bag of questions for authors.

    1. When do you realize it’s time to end the story? When I reach the ending. Because I figure it out beforehand. Weak stories with strong endings are always better than strong stories with weak endings. Ende gut, alles gut, as the German proverb goes. 2. If you kill any significant good...

How do you structure your dialogue?

I think I've shared this video on the forums before, but repetition is the mother of remembrance, as they say.

    Wattpad's Enshittification

I'm having a stressful day, I'm chasing mind-rending deadlines, I'm tired as fuck. I decide to tweak some words in TCW, because of course, even after a whole stylistic overhaul, it still has lingering issues. One of the places I use is Wattpad. I log, and lo and behold - those idiots are...

Once more I must partake of this cup.

Or, you know, just walk away from whatever location you are from, and take some fresh air the the nearest park bench. The posts above me are also solid advice, so +1 to them too. Coincidentally, I'm also piss drunk right now, because a colleague at the office was fired today ("budget cuts")...

Neeed Help Finding An Old Anime

If the OP confirms this the anime in question, this will be an awesome future use for current expert system tech.

Tips to improve dialogues in story

This video: is a very fast runway to writing workable dialogue. Only a couple of techniques that can be applied instantly. [Insert "It Just Works" Todd Howard meme] Infodumps could work, but they have to be a) very interesting, b) context-appropriate, c) preferably both. But definitely...

    Flow

I have a hard time getting into a flow. But when I do, everything happens just right. The words, the sentences, the whole narrative - it glides, it's nigh-flawless, reads like a song. They don't call it "flow" for nothing.

Any books you've read when you were really young that you liked back in the day, that wouldn't pass your bar for what you'd consider quality today?

Either my memory is faulty, or my re-reads haven't been as careful as I thought they were. But yeah, I also tend to stop after Throne of Jade (together with His Majesty's Dragon both books are simply marvelous - some many awesome scenes), and only recently tried to do a re-read of the whole...

Is ScribbleHub better than Webnovel in case of strong readers?

Update: I learned yesterday that Wattpad uses the "walled garden" principle (like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) to block you from viewing content without active registration and login. Fuck Wattpad.

Any books you've read when you were really young that you liked back in the day, that wouldn't pass your bar for what you'd consider quality today?

I'd absolutely laugh at Area 51 by Robert Doherty if I cared to read it today. I've also read Harry Potter as a kid more times than it was healthy. I've re-read the earlier books about a dozen times. I was an idiot. Could've spent that time reading actual speculative literature instead...

    Your Favorite Antagonist

Xanathos from Gargoyles. Hands down a fucking genius. The guy has a whole trope named after him. Also, he is a very good and easy case study (due to being a villain in an animated series) for how to write intelligent/scheming antagonists. PS. Ooops, didn't read the thread title OP carefully...

What is more intresting for you in this

I find the second variant more interesting. Also, regardless of which one you end up picking, I suggest reading The Rise and Fall of a Dragon King by Lynn Abbey as a case study. It has, imo, one of the best (if not straight-up the best) "living god" MCs, who has a very authentic psyche for a...

Is ScribbleHub better than Webnovel in case of strong readers?

I actually do post on Wattpad. Not the smut stuff due to a rather tyrannical ToS, but for other stuff - yes. For all the flak it gets, Wattpad does have a tremendous audience compared to both SH and RR. However, their interface is shit (though not as shit as Webnovel's) and - this surprised me...

    Can a Human become Ominiscient

I look at this thread and laugh. Then again, transcending the gravitational pull of such a black-hole concept is not a trivial feat. Omnidoxes are no joke. But there is a path forward. Infinity itself postulates so. Just beware the mirror.
