If you were to redesign something people deem important but is terribly inefficient, what would it be?

I would change us from a DEC(count to 10) system to a duodecimal system(count to 12).

If people complain they only have 10 fingers, then i'd redesign that to 12 too.

I'd actually disagree on that. The problem with the American education system might actually be the fact that it IS efficient. Efficient does not mean high quality. If anything, it is often the opposite. Efficient can simply mean cost effective, and that often implies quantity over quality.

The American education system is perfectly efficient at giving people diplomas for things people didn't actually learn, as well as regurgitating information to memorize (without understanding) to a large group of people with a minimal number of teachers with a likewise minimal salary. "Efficiency" at it's finest.

Now we can go back to 12” in a foot as the one true and proper measurement system.

Why is that a thing people always forget? America didn't just out of the blue come up with the Imperial system. It was brought here. Really, it's British :)
