Reader and author gamification - earn badges and points by commenting, reviewing, and writing.

It could be fun, some time in the future to earn levels and badges for the profile page and to give (non-monetary) gifts to authors to recognize their hard work. Currently, there is a neat "Member," "Author," "Rising Author," etc. system below users profile picture on their profile page - I suggest expanding on this with a simple gamification system.

Beware though, this could easily open the proverbial pandora's box, and pave the way for a monetary system, where you can buy gifts and badges with money (and eventually paywall novels) - I DO NOT support this, lest you want to see SH become another Webnovel (Gree)dian. I strongly emphasize that the gamification system should be prestigious in nature, and a way for dedicated authors and readers to show their loyalty/weebness/wasted time/hard work(?)/devotion. I've always thought of SH as the place for indie authors, and hopefully, the David that fells Goliath, Qidian.

I did such a suggestion once, only without the actual gamification and paywalls. Just the badges to promote reader engagement.

I am learning more and more about the site, but so far I noticed that there is the Famous/Rising/Known Author labels, but none for Readers? If there are, and I'm just stupid -- sorry! I'm not sure if this is weird to ask about, but would it be possible to allow some recognition for Readers...

But like it was then, people would probably say it's not super pending compared to other stuffs, so would probably get lost in other suggestions soon.

But for all it's worth, I support the badges! Without the gamification, though.

Mmm, so far, the "Author" -- "Rising Author" -- "Famous Author" do not seem to be very gamified, . They're just stating facts based on numbers and do not carry much weight otherwise, and perhaps they shouldn't. What use is there to it, really, other than to acknowledge users who gave a lot to the community?

I feel that Readers should also get such denominations one day, just to distinguish that the site is not solely for Authors, but for Readers as well. An ecosystem ^^.

Absolutely. I also hope that similar badges could be given for e.g., posting reviews, comments, giving kudos, etc. Authors could then earn by writing words, gaining readers, and so on. These badges should then be "appendable" to ones profile picture, so you could show off.
