TL;DR: Never let evil run rampant, but don't push it to a corner either. Nazis/Fascists are already a dying group. Let them perish silently in a few more years. Pushing them further and further is just gonna make them lash out. It's like poking the snarling dog with a stick. Poke it hard and enough and eventually it'll wake up in a fit of rage and bite you hard.

Wow.... just... wow. If that's your interpretation about what I just said, you completely missed the point. Let me give you another quote, and maybe this will clear things up.

"The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists"
-Winston Churchill

Note that 5 out of the 6 repeat holocausts I mentioned were performed by politically left countries, and the 1 that was performed by a right-wing country was performed by Muslims against Christians. The Western left is extremely pro-muslim and anti-christian, to the point that a popular left-wing news site named themselves after the perpetrators of that genocide I'm discussing here.

Here's a question. Do you want a repeat of Hitler? Recall skokie illinois. The Jewish community advocated for the KKK to be allowed to march through their city because they did not want free speech restricted in any way. The reason they did not want free speech restricted was because they knew through experience that even banning the speech people advocating death to their people and SUPPORTING what Hitler did to them was the first steps to Facism.

Right now, YOU are supporting facists, and your mind-set WILL bring about a second coming of Hitler if it's allowed to continue.

EDIT: Make that 8th coming. We've already had Stallin, Castro, China against it's own people, the Arminian Genocide, China against the Fulan Gang worshipers, and finally China against their Muslim population. Yeah, China is currently on it's 3rd repeat of the Hollocaust. And I'm not talking hyperbole here, I'm talking equal or exceeding the actual literal Hollocaust in every gory detail.

Yeah, we've had 6 Hollocaust equivalents since the original, and what you're talking here will create a 7th in the Western world. And, we've learned a lot from watching these things. It always starts with banning speech that everyone can agree is repugnant, but not actually directly causing harm. Once it crosses that line from banning harm-causing speech to banning speech that's just repugnant, that's when you loose control of the encroachment and it leads to some very dark places.
wait so by saying I'm glad fascists got dep[latformed I'm supporting fascist. sounds like projection to me.

i wouldn't say the western left is pro-muslim. Thats actually insane to like pedal that narrative. also clarify what you mean by western left.

like if you mean the left in American politics. That would be considered conservative in other comparable western countries

I actually havent seen many complaints about the "woke" stuff in The Last of Us 2
For all the times the right-skewed people cried wolf about SJWs, it's actually the left-skewed people that's crying wolf this time.

Not here to debate anything, just to point out some things:

1. People were already promising to boycott the game 2 years ago when the trailer came out showing a lesbian kiss because it was pushing a "gay agenda." Now, did any of those epic gamers actually boycott the game? Historically speaking, no, because gamer-led boycotts are some of the most laughable things in the world where nobody ever sticks to their guns. But there was still significant outrage in the anti-PC sphere of the internet over a single lesbian kiss.

2. The major communities for TLoU2, for about 2 weeks after the games released, were full to the brim with transphobic jokes, calling the game SJW cancer, calling the devs cucks, accusing them of spreading California commie bullshit whatever verbal vomit of buzzwords they like to throw together, etc. Yes, there were also people complaining about the actual game and story, but I promise you most of that shit was just straight up transphobic garbage with most people calling the game woke and SJW. I fucking love drama. Those communities were a gold mine for anti-PC tears crying about lesbians and muscular women in their vidya gaemz, so it was only natural to lurk in them for a couple of weeks to enjoy those burning dumpster fires. But yes, the professional critics (edit: I mean the ones who criticized the game, not praised it) kept things - well, you know, professional. But the communities of actual players? They were fucking burning.

That being said, I'm not here to defend the game. I think the story choices made were bullshit and I would have wanted a refund if I actually played it. I also acknowledge that there are a ton of people positively rating the game simply to piss off the anti-PC crowd regardless of how good it actually is or not. There are many, many legitimate complaints to have regarding the game, and I'm not going to accuse everybody being critical of it of being salty kids sucking that good juice from Alex Jone's tit. But if you seriously don't think that people were complaining about the woke stuff or anything, then I applaud you for having active lives off of the internet.

EDIT: I'll also say that if you're just some normal casual person who wants to play video games and you genuinely don't care about all this shit, then you'd probably never be any of the wiser to all the shittier outrage surrounding it, just like how most people you talk to outside on the street are going to have no idea what the fuck you're talking about if you ask them about SJWs and anti-PC and wokeness and all that.

I don't know what constitutes as massive outrage to yoh because I thought the Diablo Immortals announcement and Battlefront 2 got more flak than TLOU 2. Most of the quote unquote "transphobic jokes" you said I didn't see. It's all mostly Abby being framed as Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising due to how ridiculously buff she looks. Even the lesbian kiss from Left Behind wasn't as big as you made it out to be. I think the only giant sperg who larped out from the whole incident was that One Angry Gamer article, and that guy's known for calling Animal Crossing propaganda due to the ability to paint pride flags on T-Shirts.

I can definitely testify for the SJW statements and Cuckmanns, but they were a minority against the Golfing Pro memes as far as I remember. There was more outrage towards Joel's death than anything transgender or lesbian whoever.

Hell, now that the game's out, turns out there's an actual trans in the game called Lev and nobody gave a shit. The giant sperg from the leak definitely warranted the initial spark of outrage but after that, the gamer dude bros kinda left to shit on other games. Now nobody can criticize the game for what it is without being attached to Buzzword -ist #546.

And Professional Critics? Don't make me laugh. I've read one of the so called 10/10 reviews and the entire thing was praising "muh depth and themes" and there's only barely one paragraph about the gameplay. If the gamer dude bros is the wave of one stars, then these guys are the one giving undeserved five stars.

I'm not saying praise is bad, but these "professional critics" showering praise on TLOU 2 worries me a lot. It shows other game developers this is where the money's at, and we're gonna get shit like this because this is what makes moolah.

If you wouldn't allow hitler to give his speeches, then you're a fascist!
Unironically yes.

You thought putting the Evil Boogeyman "Hitler" name is gonna change any minds, eh?

I've hardly ever seen those terms outside of this forum. Saw SJWs a few times in the past, and that's about it. Mostly it just seemed like a replacement for the Whiteknight term that would be used previously to complain about people doing what was seen as performative virtue. I've noticed people using the term struggle with the concept of a person actually caring about others instead of only doing things out of self-interest.

From my own observations, "anti-PC" seems to just be people complaining about "PC-culture" not letting them insult others without consequence. I'm still not sure what "woke" is supposed to be, as most of the people I've seen claim to be "woke" are about as blind to the shades of grey in reality as those they complain about.

@BenJepheneT Just thought I should point out in case it wasn't clear: You just declared Germany to be Fascist.

To a certain degree, yes. But not too a degree people would figure as anything important

I wasn't talking about the "professional critics" who were praising the game. I meant the ones shitting all over it. They kept things related to the story and characters for the most part rather than get outraged over any identity politics bullshit. That was my point for when I brought critics up. Just wanted to clarify that.

I've hardly ever seen those terms outside of this forum.
I'm honestly jealous of you. You have much better taste in what parts of the internet to lurk in than most of us here.

@Kldran mind divulging some of that sweet sweet hiding spots on this god forsaken Wasteland
TL;DR: It's not that I visit great places, but that I just don't read the comments sections on most sites.

To be frank, I just don't socialize much. Currently the only places I visit that other people post on are Reddit and this place. On Reddit, I mainly browse r/all (which is mostly full of cute or funny videos or pictures, or funny thoughts like: "You legally have a family, you can legally have a partner and you can legally have children. However you never actually legally have any friends"), r/politics (to keep up with the latest political scandals. Only started doing this since 2016), and subs for things I have interest in like r/PSO2. Every once in a while I'll check out r/maliciouscompliance. The vast majority of my conversation is with close friends, and most of what I read is fiction.

My favorite part of reddit, and what I generally seek out most, are the personal stories people occasionally post in comments. As an example of the kinds of stories I look for and like to read:
https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/f3h391/_/fhjossb I'm not convinced this embedding of the reddit comment helps. I'd tried to post a link that included more context as the comment was part of a conversation.

These kinds of stories help me understand what life is like for other people. They show me things I've never experienced myself, or even witnessed friends or family experience. Sadly, these kinds of posts are not common, and the vast majority of my time on reddit is just browsing one-liners, jokes, and references to shows or movies I've never seen (even in the threads about serious topics).

Often, I feel like the best stories are almost entirely unrelated to the original topic of the threads they appear in, due to topic drift in conversation, which makes it harder to find them. I just have to hope I get lucky.

TLOU 2 isn't even woke. It's not even preaching for any political message. What everyone was talking about is the shit pacing and how the story's being hailed as the greatest in video game and, though it isn't god awful, it certainly isn't The Godfather. It's a clumsily done, edgy, 2deep4me series of angst that relied way too much on its theme and ended up splattering their face across the sidewalk that's been threaded on by other games way more successfully.

Even the fucking side plot from GTA IV about Drako Brevic did the theme of revenge better, and it actually let the player choose. I'm not saying TLOU 2 will benefit from player agency, but when a non-consequential choice in a side plot executes its theme better than your linear, hyper-focused story-centric game, you know you've fucked up somewhere and a few times too much.

For all the times the right-skewed people cried wolf about SJWs, it's actually the left-skewed people that's crying wolf this time. I'm not saying that there isn't some sick fucko review bombing the game just because there's Lesbo scenes in there, but the other end of the spectrum is acting like that's what everyone else criticizing the game is calling it out for, and now you can't criticize the game without being stapled with buzzwords on the internet.

If you wouldn't allow hitler to give his speeches, then you're a fascist!
Here's the thing, how do you know who's going to be the next Hitler? You don't, which means you just ban someone on suspicion of harboring negative intent. Then, once that decision has been made, you ban supporters of those people. Then, you start banning people who sound like they might be supporters of those people. Then, you start banning people who other people have reported to be supporters of those kinds of people, based on no or little evidence.

Once the slope has slipped to this point, it's easy for a secret Fascist to get in control of the banning mechanism and start shutting down all descent. And suddenly, you have a Fascist shutting down everyone's free speech, and they rise unopposed to power. Then, once they've been in power for a while, they push the envelope farther, and eventually start killing their political rivals or people they label undesirable.

I'm not talking hypothetical examples here. That's ACTUALLY what we have observed happening on 5 separate occasions in the past. That exact progression. The first time, it was actually Communism Hitler was holding up as the threat you needed to ban speech for. Then, the 4 who rose to power afterward used Fascism as the thing they were saying they were banning before they got to power and started their mass extermination campaigns.

So, yeah, if you're about to argue slippery slope fallacy, it's hard to argue it's a fallacy when I can point to evidence of it having historically happened before and frequently and without variation. So, yes, literally. If you stop one person you fear will become the next Hitler from speaking, you REALLY ARE supporting another Hitler who will be different from the person you stopped the speech of.

It's kinda like the Twilight Zone episode where someone goes back in time to kill Hitler as a baby in his crib, and then the nanny goes and takes a baby from the Orphanage to replace him and that replacement turns out to be the one who actually became the Hitler who executed the Hollocaust. That's exactly the sort of scenario you get when you start shutting down people's free speech with accusations of fascism.

People at the time who were closer to the real events thought long and hard about these deep philosophical issues, and today we have forgotten those lessons. It really helps to look up the words and philosophical material from that time. There are some poigniant messages that are the real guide to how to prevent the next Hitler, and right now we are seriously failing and practically opening the door to usher the next one in here somewhere in the Western wold (and most likely the US, and at the rate things are going the next Hitler is going to be a Democrat specifically because it's the Democrats who are encouraging the Censorship.)

IT's a waste of time. No one learns from history. Everyone always thinks "It won't be in my lifetime" or "Anti-SJW peeps are just mad they can't insult people anymore".....its that kind of ignorance and dismissal that leads to the really bad situations. But no one reads history, or if they do, they digest it improperly and still don't learn shit. Oh well. If it happens in their lifetime, they'll be so damn confused and shocked...but they'll never realize they helped it along.

Like I said, I have no faith in humanity. It doesn't learn from it's own mistakes. Like @Kldran with their not obvious, but subtle dismissal of Anti-SJW...its the little things like this that starts if off, and then its get bigger, and I'm pretty sure they'll be so damned shocked if they live to see it. 'How could this have happened oh no!!!!". Uh-huh. Sure.

Everyone thinks it's a conspiracy or an overreaction, or we're just bullshitting or whatever excuse people use....until it happens. Waste of time Jemini. They have their heads so far up their own ass, or they are supporters of it, that its like pissing in the wind. It's all going nowhere.

There is a hitler rising right now, and they aren't a democrat. You speak of learning from history, yet ignore current parallels. The US is currently copying the path Germany once took. Of course, you'll just dismiss what I say here, which is why I didn't bother speaking more strongly earlier. However, when you're gonna be this blatantly blind to current events in such a direct manner, I feel a need to say something, even if it is only going to fall on deaf ears. The US is going down a very bad path, and it's being led there by CURRENT leadership.
