Really nice use of light in this one; the problem that drove me out of water colors is the difficulties with overlappings, makes hard to add stuff or make corrections. Anyway, lovely picture.

Yeah, I live in an area that's really dry. So wet on wet techniques rarely work for me (or I end up with crazy warped paintings). It does mean I have to wait less when layering. I prefer markers, but the watercolors have def been helping me capture the tone I want to go for in this book.
