Chapter Title From The Last Sentence

What are your thoughts on this?

I originally wanted to give the chapter titles more thoughts... But became too lazy... And then started naming the chapters from the last sentence of that particular chapter.

Wrote 20+ chapters since then... And figured that... I became used to this, lol.

It sometimes helps too. When I don't get any motivation to write... I just think about a single word that can be a chapter title... Or, words that reads 'clickable' enough and form a sentence.
Then challenge myself to write a whole chapter to reach that point! It works!

It has its downside as well ofc... That's just.... Sometimes. Not most of the time.

Interesting idea but of course I happen to be the exact opposite of that...
Although remember, that story telling should also happen in the chapter names. The chapter name giving a foreshadowing effect to the chapter below (or string of chapters if having chapter groups) adds a nice touch a feel. Speaking as a reader rather than a writer in this respect though so yeah

I just pick the most impactful or interesting line in the chapter and use that as a basis for the title, so yeah, your method is totally viable.

That doesn't mean I stopped putting effort into my titles, though. I still make puns and jokes on them from time to time.

You mentioned a good point 🤔

I should try doing that as well I think 🕊️
I love creating puns. Wouldn’t want that to be taken away from me. But your way is totally valid too, in my opinion. After a few chapters, the title doesnt really means much in terms Reader attraction.
True. If the reader gets hooked, the title won't matter for the next chapter 👀

Sometimes I just think, why do titles even exist.... numbers alone should do the trick. It's harder for me to create a title than to write the chapter.
1) The Dao is Endless
2) Endless Dao, Exploding Talent

2) is the title I decided to go with, and 1) was the original title I initially came up with.

Welp... Titles matter in earlier chaps... And shorter stories I think.

Your point applies when the chapter number is above 50... Probably... Since there are many readers who just want to binge read something ... They just count the number of chapters 🤷🏻‍♂️

I also think that chapter name is kinda spoilery. That's why I only do numbers (Ch.1, Ch.2,....) BUT write the chapter name INSIDE the end of the chapter. By then, once you read the title, you could easily understand why the Chapter name is like that

That works.... But just numbers won't get much clicks actually 😶🌫️

Hmm, I get what you're doing, but being a bit old school on this, I'd say I prefer to think my chapter names a bit more.

Yes, I design some to be attractive for the reader, but at the same time, I try to make them a sort of resume of what the readers are about to go through. I prefer this kind of foreshadowing =3

That's great as well... I don't do it because I love surprises myself... So... I find the idea of a reader being surprised quite fun to imagine.

And so... I tend to do the exact opposite 😹

Also, I usually warn the readers if any grotesque scenes are on the chapter on RR... But I won't do it here 😈

Man... I'm really looking forward to see the reader's reaction here. Then again... SH readers are really silent :")
