Mine is a black human-shaped shadow, it has to be pitch black with no details, moving unnaturally.
Kind of like the one in the Bad Apple video (but that one moves naturally so it's not really scary).

Like this painting (The Melancholy and Mystery of A Street), scary as hell:

Fairly rational...
But just for you buddy, I'll stop walking around your room at night.

So am I the only one who finds this creepy? :blob_hide:

I think it's the little girl in the picture doing something so weird, playing with some kind of ring. What on earth is she doing here? And she doesn't really look human..

Perhaps it's only genuinely creepy if you overthink its content.
The thing the girl is doing is an old game back before technology. it's called Hoop Rolling.
It was a cheap easy game for children.
She's in motion so there is blur added to the painting to increase the perception she is moving and playing.
At least this is how i interpret it

First time heard of this. Definitely not something you'd find at my place. Maybe that's why I find that whole thing a bit "surreal", I'm just not used to it.

I'm old.
Also a background in world history.
Plus from a country that played the game.
I myself never played it, but my grandparents talked about it.
That's also the reason for the background. The incline of the alley she is at is where the game would be at it's "peak", due to the speed of the hoop at the bottom.
Most likely the adult shadow at the top is a relative that would have passed the hoop downhill.
No problem though man, it's old stuff and not important to know. There is literally no reason to ever have to know that kind of thing anymore.

For their defense, i kindaaaaaaa can understand and explain their fear. (i dont have it though. I hope XD)

There is this Halo Tv show (not the recent one but a more niche one)
where a group of soldier go to a "remaining halo ring parts, a part of the ring masterchief bombed". (floating near the sun of a system)

There, there is a alien thingy. Which is basically a colony of worms that of course eat flesh. (horror style trope where the team try to escape the planet, while chased by a scary monster).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> And what i want to talk about, is that there is a scene, where on top of the cliff, you, they (the team) see a shadowy silhouette.
And the smart person stop others, explaining its a trap, not a surviving teammate.
Zoomed-in, its basically the "worm colony" trying to mimic a human shape. To attract them and think its a survivor.
And you see the "shadowy" thing, sometimes do unnatural gestures/movements. (just like OmegaC said).
And yes, it is indeed quite creepy and scary.

So a sort of Uncanny Valley thing then?

My irrational fear is mirrors. I hate sleeping with my vanity mirror open and not having any curtains to cover it!
I've told other's that there is nothing I hate more than going into a dark room and almost dropping a brick because i saw my own reflection at night. I live alone so seeing a second person there is always unnerving lol
Rational

I have a story about that one...
It happened at a Chinese restaurant...
Drank half the drink before i realized what was in the bottom.
That's all i'll say on that...
Rational fear lol

Maybe
(like i said, i dont have it but kinda understand what they meant)
Edit : Its OmegaC user having this fear, not me. Just trying to explain that their "human shadowy fear" is not so irrational and easy to relate.

I think its more of "fear of unknown" side branch.
The shadow human form (like their other example of Touhou song) is scary because who knows if the "shadow" turn into a monster the next second. They are fine with touhou song shadow bc no unnatural movements, but yes me too would be scared the hell out of me, if i turn my head, and my shadow would have a detail not fitting for a micro second.

(there are probably horror movies or old movies with living shadows i bet) (or not-horror mickey mouse/donald duck where the shadow become alive and re-stuck it)

It sounds to me like a cognitive delay in processing the visuals sent to your brain in the optic nerves.
Do you have a lot of Déjà vu? If so, this might explain the details not fitting for a split second.

Also, another key point is pareidolia
This is considered an evolutionary trait.
It helped people find threats in the brush (Lions and other feral animals)
It also prevented people from wandering into potentially dangerous situations in the woods, jungles, and water.
Now though a common form of it is finding pictures in the clouds, ink blots, and other shapeless forms.

I'd determine this to also be rational fear as well.

But still enough to scare the crap out of you sometimes.

Its OmegaC that got this fear not me. (hence my very first quote)
And the shadow-detail thing was just a hypothetical example. Not real.

But yeah, that makes sense. (evolutionary explanation)

Fair enough
I lost the original person lol
I'm glad to still offer a logical explanation though
