Spoiler: Summary of my Story in up to 500 Words*

The series as a whole is about a group of people in a world called Danaria who are on a quest to recover an ancient magical artifact known as the Scepter Sword, which was lost, but prophesied to return and save the world. To do this, they must first gather three gems (blue, red and clear) that originally sat in the hilt of the sword.

In this book, the main character, a widowed ex-soldier turned mercenary named Garrick, and his companion wolf rescue a priest from bandits. Unfortunately, the priest has been mortally wounded, but with his dying breath, gives Garrick information on how to find the sword and asks him to take it to the order's high priest. Once there, Garrick, is officially tasked with retrieving the sword and is given one of the gems, as well as two companions: a straight-laced holy knight and a rebellious elven princess who has disagreements with her nation's isolationist policies. Two more gems must be retrieved, the first of which is located in the lair of a dragon. The rest of the book is about meeting/recruiting the other companions of the team (a quirky old magician with a pet squirrel, a middle-aged cleric, a femme-fatale thief and an old dwarf), defeating the dragon and obtaining the second gem.

A worldwide threat is also brewing as an evil demigod recruits a banished military commander, who had tried to take over the kingdom after his son was killed. Together they seek revenge on the world and will be the ultimate threat, but in this first book they're not connected to the main team.

Hopefully that gives you a good idea of the story, but if you want more just let me know. I'm not sure if this still feels a bit "blurby" or not, heh.

As I said, it's not that it's all impossible to do, but if everyone keeps doing whatever, it's just going to end up in a disorganized mess and I would hate that. Also, since the post is now gone, would you like me to remove your Request from the Board?

If that is your decision, that is also fine. I just don't believe in cover art that consists of a soulless image with no thought behind it, which is why I don't do that. That has always been my standpoint, which has always been important for me when working with authors or publishers.

When I edited the post I received an alert that it was hidden until a moderator reapproved it, so that’s most likely the reason you couldn’t see it.

Last Christmas I played around with an AI art generator to create pictures of the book’s main characters for my husband. Though my request doesn’t include any of the (human) characters on the cover, perhaps seeing them might also give you a better feel for the story? So I’ll include a link to those images here for you to check out, if you are interested. And I’ll add it into my original post as well, so it will probably disappear again ?

Damn, everyone died here of waiting, now I need to clean up after all this time.

So, basically I was on an involuntary creative break, because... well, crippling depression and stress for numerous reasons, therefore when I originally said it may take me a while, I did not actually mean that long.
I also only really came back here when I had the feeling that I could actually take on requests again, which is now the case. I also startet writing again, recently, which is something I barely did in the last year.
In case any of the old requests are still open (it could be that you never really got around to get a cover from someone else) I ask into the void (no, actually, I adress @rKlehm, @Ren_Silverstar and @KaitoFragment) if there's anyone left.
If not, that's also fine. From today onwards, this dead shop is open again for commissions. Same instructions; same conditions.

I hope your 2025 was better than mine and let's see what 2026 is gonna get us. At the very least, I can claim that I did not, in fact, blow up the day before yesterday, when they diffused a WWII bomb in our city center. Then again, I don't know if I count that as lucky.

Reasons for Rejection:
Look, I put in a form, so that people would fill it out. Don't delete things from the form, please, just fill everything out. If you read the fine print, which you have also deleted, you will see you don't have to input answers, you can leave the "None", but that just means for me that I get to decide all of these things, but you also deleted two mandatory slots. And I didn't want anyone to delete anything from the template in the first place.
You also didn't use the Spoiler. It might be a smaller thing, but I like it clean down here.
One way bigger issue is that "important symbols" part. I probably should have put in the same explanation I have on my Website request form, but if you look into the "What I don't do" (which is also something you SHOULD have read beforehand, since you wanted me to make a cover for you) you will see I don't really use AI and the more specific something gets, the less chance you get to find stock that you can retouch. I also don't use stock images that you have to buy the licence to, I use Adobe's Stock gallery, but only from the free sections. Like, I'm not paying 70 to a 100 bucks to make a cover that I don't even get paid for. There's also the option that you bring in an image, but again, there's no guarantee that it can be used the way you had hoped and the money might go to waste. But that would be up to you, as stated in my "What I don't do". Same with the fact that I do not draw. So where will I find an image of a "13-year-old fox beast kin with a golden aura" that may or may not hold a dagger in his hand?
"Symbols or Aspects" is called that, because it means something like "I need a sword to be seen", or "There has to be a doll in it somehow". An aspect could also be to "create the feeling that it's about sewing", for example. Not something so specific, unless you have an image ready, which you are legally allowed to use and retouch, that you can send to me. Which was the other spoiler you deleted from the request form.
And the biggest issue is that you didn't even give me a link to your story - which is fair enough, if it's not online yet, but we are distinctly missing any actual story here, that I could look into. Especially, since a synopsis of up to 500 words is also missing; basically your words in what the story is all about, spoken as the author, which is, you guessed it, another mandatory answer from the form that you have deleted.
I also need to know where it will be posted, for me to have an idea of the dimensions it should have, unless you have specific dimensions in mind, which I guess you don't, since that is also something you deleted from the form.

In short:
Please, go to the template, take the whole template, with the spoilers (just delete the spaces I put in, in order to make it easy to copy, so that it can activate once you post it), fill out all of the answers (the ones with an Asterisk have to have an answer, everything else can have a "none" if you really don't have any input on it) and either think of something less specific to have on your cover or provide me with a legally usable image of your own (don't care if it's AI, self drawn or paid for, as long as you guarantee that you are allowed to use and retouch it) that I can work with.
If you can do that, I don't know why I shouldn't take on your request.

None of the things I mentioned have been fixed and not only does that picture not show what you wanted to be shown (it looks entirely different, but even so, it's your story - still, it's so completely contrary to your previous explanation, that I'm really not getting any vibes about what this story is supposed to be) but the picture is also nothing I can work with. It's a few characters, sitting on a bench, and then there's this egregious piece of typography RIGHT on top of them.

That is why I explained to you what you have to do, in order to submit a proper request. I'm not doing this to taunt you, or because I want to stress you out - on the contrary, I just need something to work with. For that, I told you to please resubmit the proper way, but instead of a proper Request as stated in my reply and the main Thread post, I get an unusable picture of four characters that don't even match the description of what those characters were supposed to look like, according to your first request. So what was that "fox beast kin" all about?

I gave a clear outline of what I'm capable and not capable of and what you have to do, in order to request a cover. More than that, I really cannot tell you. You have to figure the rest out yourself.
