Yes. I just followed what I saw others doing.

That is your problem, that is against the sites rules... and the law.

We, fanfic writers, do not own the IP, so we are not allowed to make money off of it. It had slid under the rug for some for a long time, but SH has been cracking down on things like that recently.

I was just following what others were doing. So, my story is pretty much dead?
Pretty much.

You can start a new story and take any make money links out. You still have access to all your chapters, but you will just be writing for enjoyment/practice, not to make any profit.

Don't try to be tricky and hide something to ask for donations; the code will probably flag it, or someone will probably report it.

As for what others were doing. They were also breaking the rules and have been flagged... there are dozens of post here with the exact same issue you have, either for translations or FF writers for profit.

Can I keep the patreon link on my profile? Or should I remove that as well?

Maybe... if you had OG works... If all you have is FF's then I would be cautious... You can send Tony an Email (owner/sole employee of SH) and ask if that is okay, but he is probably going to err on the side of caution, so he doesn't face litigation.

I was going to post an original story. So, I asked. I will see what is best for me.

Meh well id have judged too but a Lotta people doing it, heck 50 shades of grey came about like that
Just because many people break the law doesn’t mean it becomes legal. 50 shades is a freak combination of coincidences that lead to this result. I wouldn’t count on that becoming the norm.

No one said about it becoming norm, as for legality and morality, well its not exactly my place to judge. People who pay on patreon also know all these i guess
