Maybe the fandom tag is a trap, and using it marks your story for extermination?:blob_hide:

flag! throwing a kosher flag on that. mental image called into question. Ref's decision called for.
I feel as if that comment? Warped, my fragile little mind.
I asked for "feedback", and titled a new "series", as "two sample chapters".
you know, seeing how two chapters I liked from a (then upcoming) work were... working. Or not working, as the case may be,

but anyways.
I got nothing. went and clicked?
404 !

these were not "translated". These were not "smut", they were G-rated z-e-r-o smut.
I can't for the life of me, figure out why my sample chapters all got 404'd

or is some ass-goblin running around "reporting" me for non-existent violations.

Your series might have been flagged under another rule?

Prohibited Series

  • Poems, random drawings, story ideas, etc... basically anything that isn't a story.

The Fanfiction Tag and the entire Fandom Feature has been disabled. You can check it out yourself.
Fanfiction getting disabled seems a separate issue from uploading a "series" under the name "two sample chapters" for feedback, which smells like something that could fall under the "story idea" and/or "not a story" ruling. Granted, I have seen worse offenders to that rule, but that was long before the Great Purge.

So is this feature permanently gone now? It seems to me this was not communicated, but Tony may have taken this step so Fanfics are not openly advertised and categorized anymore.
Still, it's rather disappointing if the Fandom system doesn't work any longer. It was one of the best Features on ScribbleHub.

Maybe it’s under review? Wasn’t there also a feature request of making the fandom tags more uniform? Idk. Having 6 different tags for the same fandom for sure isn’t optimal

True, but since literally thousands of different Fandoms exist you have leave it open for users to add Tags. It's impossible to add them all.

The fanfiction genre was also great for making sure that I could avoid those stories. Now people will post them without the tag and the stories won't get filtered.

No, they won't, as that will lead to a ban. One report and poof, similar to translations, those stories are gone.

You can still block fanfics—no need to thank me.

Sometimes I really do overestimate people's reading ability in a forum about reading and writing.

EDIY: BTW, missing a tag does not lead to a ban.

Yes, in the case of missing "Fanfiction" it does, and you said "fanfiction genre" not "Fandom". :blob_okay: Fandom is optional. The Fanfiction Genre is not optional and will lead to a ban if 'forgotten'... it's been stated multiple times.

They should take the hint and not post the fanfics here anyymore
Absolute take... because Tony, out of legal reasons, demonetized ffs, thousands of people should leave.
What hint are you talking about?

I cant tell if your joking or not. But I don't see a problem with fanfics.
Right - the real issue should be:
"People cannot make money on other people's intellectual property (IP) without their express permission*, even if writing a fan fiction about that IP," not "should fan fiction exist on this platform" or even "should fan fiction exist at all" which seems to be where the discussion is heading.

*And it is beyond the purview of a site like this to verify that permission, especially if multiple stakeholders may be involved. Sure, an author buddy can say "Yeah, go ahead and use my guys" but without a huge mess of legal footwork, if the original author is making money on it, someone else probably is to and they can have a say in it...
