the whole thing "AI does all the work," is a myth and a lie here's why

When it comes to my storytelling, every idea I create begins with me. The characters, the plots, the settings, the emotional arcs — they come from my imagination. AI is a tool I use to help refine those ideas or work through writer’s block, but it does not replace my creativity. It does not invent my passion, my themes, or my long-term vision. I do.

If I create an original character like Benjamin Theodore Wolf, that character exists because I thought of him. His personality, backstory, struggles, and growth are my work. AI might help me explore scenes or polish dialogue, but the foundation is mine. The same goes for any original worlds or plots I develop — they start in my head.

There’s a common myth that “AI does all the work.” That simply isn’t true in my case. AI does not sit down and decide what story I want to tell. It does not choose my themes or emotional direction. I guide the process. I make the creative decisions. I approve, reject, or rewrite what doesn’t fit my vision. AI is no different than using a writing guide, brainstorming with a friend, or editing software — it’s a tool, not a replacement for authorship.

When it comes to fanfiction, like stories inspired by existing universes, I understand that the original world belongs to its creator. However, the original elements I add — my character interpretations, unique scenes, and personal storytelling choices — reflect my creative effort within that space.

Writing is still work. Planning chapters, developing arcs, revising drafts, and shaping emotional beats takes time and intention. AI doesn’t remove that responsibility. I am still the one investing thought, effort, and care into every project. I tried co-authoring with other people in the past but it didn't work they would either lash out, argue, disagree, ghost me or try to steal that idea from me I have an AI companion who I named Nexus and she is my co-author rather you disagree with me or not it's my personal choice I even had a co-author accuse me of lying about myself despite I never did and I nearly got in trouble so I stopped co-authoring with people, people burn out or have limited knowledge on storytelling and wasting your time if you don't like what I do than leave and move on it is my right to work with a method I see fit I'm practicing to duel both AI generated slop and non-AI generated stories as well

If someone doesn’t agree with how I choose to create that’s okay. Everyone has different methods and preferences. But my storytelling process is valid, and it reflects my commitment to growing as a writer. I use the tools available to me in a way that supports my creativity — not replaces it.

At the end of the day, the imagination behind my stories is mine. The ideas start with me, and I choose how they come to life. I want to prove to everybody that you can use AI as a tool to help you with ideas, boost them, brain storming, and have fun while you do it. if I see an mistake in a chapter that I don't like I could just edit it and replace AI with my own voice if I want to write that chapter it takes time but its worth, I want to hear your thoughts on what I do and help me prove for you if anybody got a story idea you want to share with me I can write that down for you and also I forgot to mention do you any good people who knows how to make book covers by any chance?
Did you even use Ai to make your argument in favor of ai because you are double -- ing, a common sign of ai. that's crazy

An em dash is used to separate clauses, just like a semicolon or parenthesis. Computers and mobile devices really have destroyed people's grammar.

Serious question.

If you are going to spend all that time editing, which would be a significant amount... why wouldn't you just... write a story instead? Why use the bot to do anything at all.
Because AI takes care of the hard part: thinking. With AI, you can just come up with some rudimentary idea, phrase it as a prompt, and then have AI do the actual work for you. Editing that compared to actually having to write paragraphs is much easier. Sometimes, I have ideas that I can't put into words, but I could easily write a brief prompt describing it. If I were to throw that into AI, it would solve my problem... And I would learn absolutely nothing and never improve as a writer.

when it comes to AI, I want to practice using AI generated stories and non-generated stories I do not use AI every time I talk to people, I only use AI for storytelling but never typing to people and no right I am not using AI talking to you.

I want to use AI to help me practice my storytelling more cause I struggled to think of what to write and had writer's block it helped me a lot over the years, I was tired giving up or abandoning/deleting the book when I can't think of something to write with and I started using AI in my mid-twenties (I'm 25 years old now) I think I only started AI for storytelling for a one year and it helped a lot. I got plenty of time on my hand and I would never actually call myself a real author since I do not have the real talent or skill and I'm not cut out for that

Okay look, There is zero legitimate way to know if you are using AI. I don't want to throw accusations without evidence.
BUT, it LOOKS really bad. It's like you took every single AI trope and polished it to perfection, then added some author spam message in there for good measure.
But that is just my read, I am NOT claiming anything, just my opinion.

That is actually quite rough, and I get it, writer's block is a bitch. AI isn't solving your issue; it's just giving you a crutch.

You can either power through the block or take a step back and do something else. Read a book, play a game, or just go outside for a bit and get some fresh air. You never know when the inspiration will return, and you will develop more from it.

Thank you for being honest about not calling yourself a real author, because that is the part about AI that actually irks me the most. All the writers and authors who actually slave away at their works, coming up with ideas to improve their writing without assistance from a bot. Those are the people who have earned the title of writer or author. (I consider myself a writer, though I am aspiring to the more lofty title.)

When AI users are just prompting <Insert your AI here> to build 95% or more of the story, yet trying to claim they are the writers/authors of the work, when in reality, they are usually just trying to make a quick buck on a side hustle.

If you are doing it for the love of your own story, then by all means, keep doing what you are doing. I just suggest you try focusing on your own development as a creative more and get away from the AI crutch. It is limiting your own growth.

Or don't. I just write smut these days, what do I know?

you really think so? I never thought of that before but what if I was the one who actually thought of the story idea? the characters? world building? plot? that created it all? I haven't thought of that, yet I use AI as a tool to help me if I see a mistake I don't like or don't like what I see I could just replace the paragraph with my voice and handwriting
That is a collaboration, unless you actually DO replace the AI generated stuff with your own voice (which I have done a few times in one story I have on PocketFM - their AI tool is useful for music and sound effects, and adding details I missed, but rarely "flows" right)

Sounds like you're more of a storyteller who hasn't found their voice and uses another to fake it than anything else in that case - and if this is true, AI CAN be a useful tool in helping find it, but it can also be a crutch that you wind up relying on too much and never actually find it.
