Planning Patreon Tiers for my 700+ chapter epic. Does this balance look good?

Hi everyone!

I am the author of "FabL: The Blue Traveler and the Dual-Body Savior". As some of you might know, I am currently translating my completed Japanese web novel (over 700 chapters total!) into English on a daily basis.

To support this long-term project, I am preparing to launch a Patreon page soon. I know my readership is still small, but I want to have the "foundation" ready from the start as I'm committed to this series for the long haul.

I wanted to share my planned Tiers and get some feedback from the community before I officially open it.

Here is my current plan:

  • Tier 1: Wandering Traveler ($2)
    • Benefit: Access to the "Archive" (Exclusive side stories & deep lore).
  • Tier 2: Horoscope Gazer ($5)
    • Benefit: Up to 8 Advance Chapters ahead of the public release (+ All Tier 1 content).
    • The main story on Scribble Hub will always remain free!
  • Tier 3: Blue Savior ($10)
    • Benefit: Your name featured in the "Special Thanks" list + All previous rewards.
My Questions:

  1. Do these Tier names sound interesting and thematic?
  2. Is 8 advance chapters for $5 a fair "deal" for readers?
I’m still setting everything up, so I haven't added the link to my profile yet. I plan to put the link in my Bio/Signature once the launch is ready.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or any advice on running a Patreon for a long-running series!

[UPDATE: Patreon Launch!] I have officially launched my Patreon page!

The link is now in my Signature and Profile. The main story will, of course, continue to be updated daily for free on SH/RR. Thank you for your warm welcome and interest in FabL!

Most people don't care about names or any benefits besides getting advanced chapters.

8 sounds fine, but it very much depends on the story, its popularity, and word count.

8 Chapters seems like nothing to me, especially since you are proudly declaring that your story is 700 chapters long. So essentially, they can read 1% of the total story ahead.

Also, what would stop people from reading your original story and then deciding to just MTL or AI translate it themselves?

Anway wishing you the best of luck, but I think you should increase the early chapters... by a lot. Especially since you are not writing the chapters, you are just translating them, using AI, right? That's probably a lot quicker than writing the chapters.

I'd increase the numbers or at least offer more chapters for the higher tier.

To be honest, I see my Patreon more as a way for readers to support my creative journey rather than just a place to buy content. Since this is a massive project with over 700 chapters completed in Japanese, my primary focus is to maintain a healthy, consistent daily update schedule for the long haul.

While I use AI for the initial translation, I still spend time on manual editing and localizing to ensure the quality is better than raw MTL. For me, the "Advance Chapters" are a small token of gratitude for those who kindly choose to support my work and help me stay dedicated to this series.

Even now, I am actively writing the true continuation of the story while managing the English translation process, ensuring the world of FabL keeps growing. I'll be sticking with this pace for the time being, but I appreciate your perspective!

if anyone wants to send me a coupon,
for free Monster energy drinks, and a pack of Marlboro Lights?
I'll send you a link for the entire damn *book* in one gigantic PDF
and pictures of my cat, too.
"action clips" of me chasing a cow at work and beating it with a stick,
or even covered in *gore* at the deer processing plant.
pretty much anything you want.
