Feedback to Measure the Reader's Perception of Character Identifier

Could you help me gauge how readers perceive multiple characters in a chapter? I'd like to know how causal readers identify characters in a narrative.

If you'd like, please follow these instructions:
1. Read only the chapter once below and do not repeat it. Put yourself in the shoes of a causal reader who happened to stumble upon a random chapter in SH's Latest Updates.
2. Answer the questions below (spoiler field below the chapter) honestly according to the format provided.

This feedback is closed-ended. Simply answer the multiple-choice questions briefly after reading the chapter once. Honest answers are what I'm looking for. Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

Outside the City of Western Rose Garrison…

A thin mist hung in the night air. The fog drifted down, brushing against the brown manes of the docile horses.

“Kriii—aaaa…”
“Hii—haa…”

The sound of horses neighing softly as they stood still. Horse-drawn carriages were parked along the roadside outside the city of Western Rose Garrison.

Beneath a medium-sized wagon, a blue-haired woman sat on the damp ground. Lying across her thighs was a red-haired woman. Her eyes were closed, and blood was still dripping from her lips.

Veyna gently stroked Sira’s hair in her lap, yet her hands would not stop trembling.

“Sira… please hold on!” Veyna pleaded anxiously.

To the right of where Sira lay, a woman in a white coat placed a bottle of green potion liquid on the ground. Doctor Reisa examined Sira’s condition, checking her breathing, pulse, and the flow of her mana.

Commander Noire stood behind Doctor Reisa with her arms crossed. A flat smile rested on her lips as she watched Sira's breath was gasping.

Her face remained calm, but she clenched her palm so tightly that her fingernails dug into her skin.

“How is her condition, Doctor Reisa?” Noire asked.

Doctor Reisa paused her work. She tucked her loose brown hair behind her ear, and glanced at Noire briefly.

“It’s not good, Commander. Miss Sira has suffered a severe backlash. Her mana flow is in chaos,” she said in a low voice.

Doctor Reisa opened Sira’s mouth and fed her a potion. Once the bottle was empty, she turned back to Commander Noire.

“For now, Miss Sira’s condition is more stable. Please do not force her to use magic for the time being,” Doctor Reisa explained.

“At least she’s safe for now." Noire sighed softly. "Thank you, Doctor.”

...

They fell silent, allowing Doctor Reisa to continue treating Sira.

Beside Commander Noire, a young girl in a dark robe lifted her hood. Her short, black hair swayed as she moved her head. She tugged at the hem of Noire's robe.

"Commander... sorry to interrupt. But I report that traps have been set along the road."

Noire smiled faintly and patted the young girl's shoulder.

"Good work, Lett. Return to your position; let me take care of Sira."

"Thank you, Commander," Lett smiled, her cheeks flushed.

She stepped back and resumed guarding the carriage.

“Tap… kling... tap… kling…”

The sound of footsteps accompanied by the clinking of metal drew closer. Captain Reynard walked alongside a woman military advisor, Lady Serena.

Behind them, Commander Feroux—his body wrapped in bandages like a living mummy—was being supported by an armoured knight and escorted by three others.

Captain Reynard stopped behind Doctor Reisa. He glanced briefly at Sira lying in Veyna’s lap a moment.

He turned toward a white-haired woman appeared calm.

“Commander Noire… how is Miss Sira?” Captain Reynard asked.

“She’s safe,” she replied shortly.

Reynard frowned at Noire’s cold answer.

“You said… Operation Red Plan would succeed. Then why is Miss Sira injured now?” He bit his lip a moment. “...And what about the state of the city?”

Commander Noire did not answer immediately. She simply stood there, staring at the night sky shrouded in grey mist.

“The operation did not fail. We merely suffered a minor accident.”

“A minor accident?! Commander Noire, don’t joke. Miss Sira clearly suffered a backlash after using that taboo magic.”

“Why did you force her using Cold Fire to destroy the city’s infrastructure?” Captain Reynard protested.

“This… was Prince Elvyn’s order. I am merely the executor,” Noire said, her violet eyes dimming.

Captain Reynard fell silent, heard the words ‘Prince Elvyn’s order.’ He clenched his fist tightly, then let out a heavy sigh.

“I will not question Prince Elvyn’s command. But I want to know the city’s state now.”

...

Noire froze for a moment.

She slowly turned her head to look to her left. Her violet eyes reflected the image of an orange-haired knight.

“Are you sure you want to know the city’s current state, Captain Reynard?”

“Why wouldn’t I?! I devoted my life to protecting that city before the Black Mist Princess invaded.”

“This may not be good.” Noire let out a heavy sigh. “Have you ever heard of the holy city of Vesuvius?”

Captain Reynard shook his head. But, Lady Serena interjected.

“I have heard of it, Commander. I heard… it was an ancient city that once served as the centre of the Magus Church on the central continent long before the world lost its memory.”

Noire nodded. “Correct, as Lady Serena explained. The city of Vesuvius once existed in the past. However, it has now vanished from the map.”

“You may have heard about the Vesuvius Caldera in the central continent, which is now in the territory of the Magica kingdom.”

"Their similar names are no coincidence. The holy city of Vesuvius has now become the Vesuvius Caldera,” Noire’s lips curved downward.

“WHAT?!” Lady Serena and Captain Reynard shouted in shock at the same time.

Their eyes widened at Noire’s revelation. Reynard slowly opened his mouth.

“How… is it possible… for a city to become… a volcanic caldera?” he stammered.

Commander Noire remained silent for a moment.

She turned toward the east. “It should be impossible.... but if white flame runs rampant, it can very well happen.”

“It was considered taboo magic for a reason. That white flame was not lethal to living beings and was once regarded as holy fire by the Magus Church.”

“In ancient times, the Magus Church used it as a purification spell. They created candles from the branches of the World Tree to control white flame.”

“However, one day, during a sacred festival, an accident occurred that caused white flames to spiral out of control. The flames burned all material objects within the holy city.”

“In a single night, the holy city—nicknamed the Mystril Fortress—melted into molten magma. The white flames have continued to burn ever since… becoming an eternal volcanic caldera.”

Lady Serena covered her mouth, her fingers trembling uncontrollably.

“Don’t tell me… Western Rose Garrison?!” Captain Reynard said as he tightened his grip on his sword’s hilt.

Commander Noire gave a thin smile and let out a heavy sigh. “The worst-case scenario… it will become the next volcanic caldera,” her right hand reached into the pocket of his dark robe.

“Sreet—Kring!”

Sparks splashed. Steel blade clashed against mystril dagger.

Captain Reynard drew his blade and was met by Noire’s dagger.

“You Elan Noir… are insane! You turned a fortress city that has stood for hundreds of years into hell?!”

Captain Reynard snarled through clenched teeth as he pushed his blade forward.

“DO YOU WANT TO KILL ALL THE CITY’S INHABITANTS?!”

Commander Noire did not answer. Her violet eyes dimmed.

“Stop it, Captain Reynard!”

Her right hand held Reynard's shoulder. Her brown hair swayed with the shake of her head.

“Lady Serena… don’t stop me—this demon woman turned a city into a living hell!”

Captain Reynard pushed his sword with all his might, channelling his aura into the blade that glowed with a faint green light.

But, his sword could not force Noire’s dagger back.

“Buk!—Ughh…!”

A fist slammed into Captain Reynard’s abdomen.

His armor was cracked. He crashed to the ground.

Reynard curled on the ground and looked up. Noire stood over him, her gaze cold.

“I won’t deny your accusation… We didn’t want this disaster either. Sira did everything she could. But sometimes, accidents are beyond our control.”

...

“Captain Reynard…” Lady Serena crouched beside him, gently rubbing his back.

She looked up. Her golden pupils reflected a shadow of white-haired woman holding a dagger.

“Commander Noire… that was too harsh.”

Commander Noire let out a sigh. She turned back, walked forward, stopped, then crouched in front of Sira.

“We don’t have time to argue, Lady Serena. Voice your complaints after we leave this fog-covered territory,” Commander Noire said as she wiped Sira’s forehead.

“Doctor Reisa… we’re departing now.” Commander Noire stood up and cast a sharp gaze at her comrades and allies. “We move out now."

"Do not lower your guard in enemy territory. Return to your assigned positions!”

Moments later... they returned to their respective horses. Noire walked beside her carriage, preparing to climb onto the driver’s seat.

Captain Reynard rode past her with two escort knights on horseback.

He glanced briefly at Noire. His brows tightened, but he quickly turned away and passed her by.

“Let’s move forward,” he ordered the two escort knights.

Noire simply stood there, resting a hand on her horse. Veyna rode up and stopped beside her.

“Commander Noire… you were too harsh,” Veyna said. “That knight is still too young.”

“I would not be a Commander if I were soft, Veyna.”

Noire moved to sheath her mystril dagger back into her cloak.

However, the blade shimmered with a crimson dusk-like glow. She instinctively turned her gaze toward the eastern horizon.

...

A reddish light shone brightly. It was not the light of dawn. That glow came from the city of Western Rose Garrison.

“What happened?” Veyna asked.

Commander Noire narrowed her eyes. The towering walls surrounding the city was consumed by white flames.

The flames melted the grey stone, slowly turning it into molten magma.

Liquid magma dripped and fell to the ground along the city walls. The flowing stone emitted a red glow, reflected clearly in Noire’s violet eyes.

Commander Noire froze in place. Her eyes flickered. Her hand grasped her head, turned toward Veyna.

“Veyna… use [Eyes of Birds] to assess the city’s condition."

Veyna flinched, nodded and activated her ability. Her left eye glowed blue.

She swallowed hard. Cold sweat trickled down her forehead.

“Veyna… tell me what you see.”

“This… this is a living hell.”

Her shoulders tensed. Her hands gripped the reins of her horse. Her blue eyes widened, connecting with a pair of red eyes in the sky.

A pair of red eyes appeared from the smoke above the city center. A raven flew across the sky, darting through billowing clouds of black smoke.

The raven looked down. Towering buildings melted into streams of molten magma.

Thousands of the city’s women ran in every direction, unable to find a safe place.

"Help... help us..." they shouted.

White flames danced above the melting buildings, ignoring the desperate screams of the residents.

Oh, just to note something, I did at one point get Sira and Veyna mixed up, but that was only once as I read a line. But that might've been because I was busy cooking on a stovetop while reading.

The problem is the way that they are introduced. A description. Then no clear assigning. It is easy to mix them up as they are essentially featureless.

Additional (optional): 11. Explain one reason why the character you chose is the most memorable for you? Noire. She had white hair but her name conflicts with that; it's sort of a subtle sign that her actions don't align with who she really is.
