Also, another thing to note...

I know a few clients that use AI art because their previous experiences with commissioned artists isn't good. Like, it takes too long for them to come out with something, or they give too many excuses because in reality, "the idea hasn't come yet."

I face same dillema, really. And AI can be a tool to freshen up ideas for the final illustration result.

I always say, once your story actually starts making money, you need to commission a real cover. But if you tell someone who's entertaining you for free that they need to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on cover art just because you don't like AI, the next words out of your mouth had better be "here's the money you'll need to do it."
It's so interesting because I only paid my friend 50 for my cover. You don't have to exaggerate to prove a point, I said I found it hypercritical to hate AI writing but use AI art, because they both serve the purpose of replacing US. ALL OF US. Like yeah I know you love money woo capitalism but I'm in it for the love of the art. I will pay my artists who I love with my whole heart anything to see my dream come true. Because I love art. I love artists. Do you?

I commission my covers and artworks because I simply love Miss Ditya's art style. And I happen to have the money.

In this economy, I'd just shrug when I see AI art. I stopped caring long ago. My regular artist made a point that she always has something that prompted art can't emulate. Even my own crappy artwork made a guy said "this lives rent free in my head." A crappy artwork of mine, imagine. So I'm not threatened by AI's existence anymore.
Artists who are often threatened by AI are either posers who slap clients with too many conditions, thinking their stuff is the real deal, or those who just want art to be their main source of income...which, in this economy, is impossible.

My view of AI art proliferation is that, it is the "Great Equalizer" that gave opportunity to lesser-known and dedicated artists to thrive in these times.

In my opinion, keep in mind that fact, AI covers are just bland. I often find myself clicking on stories with scuffed covers more than ones with obviously AI ones. Also I tend to skip the covers with characters on them especially if they are in the anime style.

Its a buisness, and you can't invest unless you already have the capital for it, and lets be honest... most people don't.
Why it gotta be a business? Like I care first and foremost about the ART. I will work whatever other job to keep my dreams alive. The moment I see my art as work is the day I will no longer exist.

Honestly... it's unfair for someone to complain about AI art. They're probably using pirated software. If someone wants to be honest about their principles, they should use all the paid features: OS, Ms. Word, CorelDraw, Photoshop, etc.
A billion dollar company is not comparable to a human freelance artist. My principles are always artists first.
While tis a commendable attitude towards art, not everyone has the same mindset as you.
Sure. Rock on if you want the money, It's my opinion after all. I just wanted to point out my issues.
Joke plz dont sue
Too late, My lawyer and other men of dubious morals are coming.

At least you're a good sport. :sweating_profusely: Though, the dubiously moraled men are questionable. I will take a chance with your lawyer. I already prosecuted someone on these threads years ago. Let's just say...it was a questionable individual.

You might be the first person I wowed... maybe.

Understandable. Hope you keep that up, especially when things start to overwhelm you and your craft.
My hand is in music, writing, graphic design, and game design. I'll be ok. Art saved my life! It helped me find out who I am, and I made countless friends and memories commissioning art even when I didn't make a dime off it. I'm in it for the love of the game, and I want to make sure EVERYONE in this space can show their skills off, and generated art just doesn't do that.

I like discussion! If somebody was to change my mind sure! I doubt it, but I made this thread for a reason.

We're almost the same, though I'm more on coding programs and robots instead of game design. And add baking and cookery to the mix.

I use my art not only to supplement my small salary as a teacher, but also a way to help my students in their problems.

Oh yeah, and I also make my own novel illustrations.

Say that to the people forced to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars simply because of software copyright issues. And to the companies forced to pay millions of dollars because of copyright issues. Is this fair?

That's debatable. However, the law in the real world is often harsh. My point isn't to defend anyone, but to inform people about the consequences of copyright.

Idk I hate the hypocrisy some authors have I've seen around the internet. Why do we complain about AI Writing then turn around and use AI art? We are all in this together. You hate all of it or none of it here. If you hate AI Art, then PAY YOUR ARTISTS! They need to eat just like you or I. Idk, It's been simmering in my brain for a while.
There's some of us here who write just for fun and don't have that kind of money to hire an artist for a poster art just for fun. I mean if my work is liked and all, then I'm definitely gonna hire an artist instead of some AI art. It's as simple as that. If I can't even eat myself then how can you expect me to feed others.

Because our stories are free. Cover art is not. Demanding that we give you money for something we're not being paid for is pure entitlement. End of story.
This also makes my brain hurt no offense. Who is demanding? Who feels entitled to your money? You must be talking to OtherOtherSlater or something. I am saying it's hypercritical to hate AI writing yet use AI art. Your story is free because you choose to post it here. It's really not that hard to network, guys!

I think we should blame the anti art company for their bogus practices and predatory subscription services than the people cracking it, just sayin

You can draw yourself even. Learn a new skill with graphic design! I'm not saying you HAVE to commission art (I'd recommend it regardless, it's great to learn networking early) But I'm saying shafting artists for convince is just not right. You guys don't have to commission from a big time artist, find your local twitter nerd who's slaving away drawing lewds for 50 likes and HOP IN THOSE DMS!
