Welcome, site dwellers, BL enthusiasts, and highly confused individuals alike! It’s time for the 6th collaborative anthology of the Brilliant Library of Boys' Love – a themed collection of Boys’ Love short stories from authors here on Scribble Hub. We invite any interested writers or readers to try their hand in it!

STORY REVIEW FORM




KEY CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS:

  1. Word limit increased to 10k (minimum word count: 1k)
  2. Dubcon, noncon & PWP are allowed (please flag appropriately)
  3. Crossposting to AO3, with exclusive posting to AO3 for stories that don’t conform with Scribble Hub Guidelines
  4. New review system for entries matching authors with reviewers based on content warnings.
  5. No separate initial submission date and post-submission date. If you submit your story by the submission date and it is subsequently reviewed and rejected, you will not have time for revisions.


SUBMISSION PROCESS

  1. Author(s) write the story
  2. Submit via https://forms.gle/ctVGmY7TGRZ9Q3Vx8
    1. Stories can be submitted via a sharing link (e.g. to Google Docs or Ellipsus) or as an uploaded file in the form (e.g. a txt file, word doc or open doc).
  3. A reviewer will review the story to ensure that it meets the rules, via https://forms.gle/7HSdJvxzGQzF7JxZ7
    1. Reviewers will be assigned based on content and content warnings.
  4. The handling editor (bafflinghaze) will make a decision on whether the story is accepted or rejected.
  5. If a story is rejected, we encourage you to revise appropriately based on your provided feedback.
  6. After a story is accepted, the author(s) may request to make minor changes before it is posted.
  7. Stories will be posted for the anthology.
    1. All stories will be added to an AO3 collection via the BL Palace account, with your AO3 account as a co-author if you have one.
    2. Appropriate stories will be added directly into the BL Water Anthology novel on SH, while ‘inappropriate’ stories will be linked.


RULES

  1. This is the BL Water Anthology. All stories must:
    1. be BL
    2. and include the theme “water”
    3. and include at least one of the subthemes.
    4. Note:
      1. This means that the story should contain a romantic and/or sexual relationship between at least two boys or men. This relationship does not need to be the primary focus of the story but it must be important.
      2. The two main characters should willingly identify as male.
      3. Stories with bromances, “no homo” friendships, BL between side characters but not the main characters, or flirting between the main characters that lead nowhere will be rejected.
      4. Stories that are a malicious satire of the BL genre will be rejected.
      5. The theme and subthemes can be interpreted literally and/or metaphorically.
  2. Content compliance:
    1. Stories must comply with AO3’s Content Policy: https://archiveofourown.org/content
    2. Stories do not need to comply with SH’s Content Guidelines, but this may lead to exclusive posting on AO3: https://www.scribblehub.com/content-guidelines/
    3. Note: this means that dubcon and noncon are allowed.
  3. Stories must not promote discriminationbased on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender or disability.
    1. Note: these issues are allowed to be included within the story’s themes.
    2. Submissions suspected of having been written to cause intentional distress will be rejected.
  4. Your story must include appropriate warnings and tags.
    1. Content that should be flagged include (but not limited to): graphic depictions of violence, major character death, rape/non-con, dub-con, underage sex, gore, incest, gaslighting, grooming, necrophilia, bestiality, outdoor/public intercourse, and torture.
  5. Stories must be original and written specifically for the anthology.
    1. All works must be stand-alone and not part of another series or story.
    2. The story must be an original piece of fiction, unpublished and unrelated to other works.
    3. Fanfiction, AUs, spinoffs, prequels, or sequels of your existing stories are not permitted.
    4. Note: You may post your stories wherever you please after the anthology has published them, or if you retract your submission beforehand. If a submission is posted before it is published in the anthology, it will be removed from the release lineup.
  6. Stories must be between 1,000 and 10,000 words.
    1. This does not include the title, tags, summary/description, authors notes and “character theatres” at the end of the story.
    2. The author notes (which can include character theatres) cannot be more than 750 words.
    3. You can market or promote your other stories in the author notes in a restrained manner.
  7. Stories should be free of SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) mistakes.
    1. Stories with excessive SPaG errors may be rejected or conditionally accepted pending edits.
  8. Authors can (optionally) submit art to accompany their story
    1. Authors can add art, at latest, after their entry is accepted and before it is posted.
    2. We will accept "moodboard" style pieces.
    3. GenAI art will not be accepted. Any pictures that may require a Content Warning (such as NSFW or extreme gore) will not be included.
  9. Authors can submit up to two stories.
    1. At maximum, this can be: 1 solo entry + 1 co-written entry, or 2 co-written entries, or 2 solo entries
    2. These entries must not be explicitly connected to each other.
  10. Authors can withdraw their submission at any time.
  11. The editor (bafflinghaze) has the right to add new rules or reject submissions that abuse any loophole in the rules.
    1. Any new rules will be announced and flagged.

Though I am personally not interested in BL, you gotta appreciate the effort put into this contest.

If anyone is interested, they should really participate, not only can they share their stories, but they even get some real valuable feedback.

Anyone who loves BL should be grateful and maybe participate if they have the time.

Yo this sounds kinda rad. So it can have a post apocalyptic setting? As long as it also fits the water theme?
