When I'm editing a chapter and I hit the 'preview' button (pictured below), does that count as a view on the stats? I know this doesn't matter and I shouldn't be obsessing over my stats 24/7, but I'm curious.

I have no idea. but I'm convinced just looking at the page with the synopsis, and chapter titles counts as a view. I sometimes check my stats after publishing, and there's already a 1 on view, and it would only be up for half a second. I'm curious about what counts as a view too.. otherwise, I might have one reader that is always waiting by their screen like... "Ah yes. i feel it.. an update is coming. THERE IT IS! CLICK! MUST READ NOW!!!!" lol which if this is true. To whoever that is. I love you.. SO much. but it baffles me constantly. xD

I never thought about it, but this thread satisfied my curiosity.

If you press update and view then it will be counted as 1 view. By the way SH has 3 types of views:

(1) Overall views are a combination of fiction page views and chapter views. These are the views displayed in fiction statistics.

(2) Chapter views are views for each chapter viewed. 1 chapter click = 1 chapter view.

(3) Effective views are chapter views that are counted as at least 30 seconds on the chapter page. 1 effective view = 30 seconds on the chapter page.

If you want to know how many readers read your fiction content then effective views are the most accurate approach.
