I like how none of those are hetero HAHAHA! I actually haven’t written non-hetero romance before, though I’ve read those you listed. Maybe I should try ?

As for what kind, as a teen I liked angsty, tragic, and/or unrequited feelings. Idk why because I much prefer reading happy stories ? edgy teen phase I suppose.

I still like writing those today though. Simple crushes aren’t enough—I need some soul-torturing love. You ever read any Russian novels? Dostoevsky? “Your hand is cold, mine burns like fire. How blind you are, Nastenka!” That kind of vibe. ?

Some quotes from my own story if you’re curious ? I apologize for the cringe beforehand.

"I do not pretend to know the entirety of your soul, Lady Elise," he murmured quietly. "But what I have been privileged to see..." He paused, his gaze unwavering. "...is a strength that forges its own path, a grace that needs no audience, and a will tempered in solitude." His voice gentled further, becoming almost a caress. "And beneath it all, I have glimpsed a softness you guard as fiercely as any secret. I do not need to know every chapter to know I wish to read the rest. If... you would allow me."

He could almost hear her dry, unimpressed tone: "You are too early, Your Grace."

The imagined reprimand made his smile deepen, fondness melting into something boyish and utterly besotted.

A low, tender chuckle escaped him. "I could not help myself," he confessed to the empty air, the words a breath of stolen sweetness. "The desire to see you was a physical ache."

The breeze whispered through the barren branches, but he remained a steadfast figure in the frozen garden, waiting, hoping.

His eyes remained locked on the path, as if his will could warp reality and draw her around the bend.

Oh, how he longed to see her.

How he dreamed of her presence every second of his life.

"I love you," he whispered. "God help me, I love you more than life itself. I would endure another eternity in this wretched, soulless body if it meant I could see you—just once more."

1. I do agree more soul crushing love is needed, unless I'm just ignorant.
2. I haven't read any Russian Novel no.
3. Don't worry, a lot of things out of context are cringe :blobthumbsup:. It just means you enjoy writing.

I like writing Supernatural with Cosmic Horror elements.

There is something so good about living in a fantastical reality but then realized all of it was just a small blip on the cosmic scale, there are things out there so powerful and incomprehensible that make everything you do seem meaningless.

I'll ramble about some cosmic stuff if I keep going.

Ah, the classic 'YOU, are not important', love that stuff. I can't help but add Cosmic Horror in my own novel. It just FEEELS right:blob_no:

I can't explain why I can create such short-story masterpieces of terror, but it's definitely a gift I'm proud of. My mentors were the horror writers of the golden age in the early 20th century. Horror is also the most expansive. Anything can become a horror story. :love:
