Bot Comments are Evolving

Have you noticed bot comments are getting smarter? Scammers are training them on which words get the best reactions from authors. If someone want to talk to you outside SH, they're probably not a person at all.

There is also a new kind of bot going around that just attacks the author. It accuses people of using AI and flames everything until they delete their work so the story can get stolen and reposted by someone else.

The best way to counter them is doing the opposite of what they want: keep writing whatever you want. Possibly some sort of toxic omegaverse with old man yaoi and mpreg. So much of it, in fact, that if they feed it to AI, it will start regurgitate that and only that.

I know it sounds weird, but I can tell when it's AI. It's just the way people "talk", you can tell. If you just read AI wording out loud, you'll swear it sounds mechanical and staged. *^^* I mean it. Look at an AI comment sometime, and you'll understand.

I do not doubt it happens, but sometimes (there has been a lot of AI slop, actually) the accusers are right. To the point of deleting their work, I have only seen it happen once myself, but that "author" was writing too much like a machine to give any credibility to their work and it happened too early in the story to make anything off of stealing it.

I do not doubt it happens, but sometimes (there has been a lot of AI slop, actually) the accusers are right. To the point of deleting their work, I have only seen it happen once myself, but that "author" was writing too much like a machine to give any credibility to their work and it happened too early in the story to make anything off of stealing it.

You can tell if it's a bot or not by looking at their registration date and comments. If it's happened too early then it's just the author gaming the system to avoid shadowban. That same story is going to be published again under a different title and account.

And this is exactly what AI does as a whole - gathers all kinds of data from different places and smashes it all together like slop. Art, music, words, all creations really.

I haven't seen that here yet but I have seen it on other sites. Always ends up the same. In the end, I don't send them photos, I tell them absolute lies and then I tell them if what they have to say is so important it can be said where we are. If they can't handle that, I block and move on.

I don't know if these are bots but I have had "artists" add me on social media, immediately jump into my Direct Messages and then want to sell me their art...after they tell me how crappy my profile looks.

I've had it happen on LinkedIn. If they're not bots, it doesn't matter, if they act like that they get the same block the bots get. Not sure what makes someone look at a guy like me and think "WHOOOO!!! Massive Payday...Incoming!"

If it makes you feel better, you might not look like a payday. They just spam everyone remotely resembling a potential target, and hope some of it will stick. Clearly it's successful enough to keep going.
