I started working on my first novel and I posted it on here and other sites a few days ago but I haven't gotten any views or feedback. How do you all promote your work to the point you actually have people take a nice and read your stories. I'm not really good with social media so any tips would very much be appreciated.
1 - More chapters
You have one chapter... many people wont even look at something with less than 20 chapters. Chapters 20/50/100 are generally the points you will see more readers pay attention to your work.
2 - Time
You just started. There is nothing for a reader to really read yet. Keep writing, keep posting, and eventually you should be getting some feedback.
Honestly most of SH are fairly silent readers, most of the time giving you a heart at the bottom of the chapter at most. If you have someone engaging in the comments, you should respond. Appreciate your readers and they will appreciate you... hopefully.
3 - Nice cover
You have a black cover with some fancy lettering... I can appreciate the aesthetic, but it doesn't draw the eye in. You have a furry book, probably want something like that as the cover...
4 - Break up the walls of text!
I tried to read your ch1 but gave up after the first ten lines. Separate your paragraphs, your dialogue, the different thoughts you are writing into something your reader can actually read without being a chore.
Keep your paragraphs down to no more than 3-4 sentences, then put a break in.
I would suggest you go read some other authours works on here. You can see how they are formatting their chapters and try to make yours look somewhat similar. Tags aside, whenever I am looking for a new book to read, if I see something like this, it gets immediately deleted from my reading list.
