What do you like most and why? Additionally, how do people feel about elemental magics and systems that use them?
Make many comments to get me another popular poll.
(Don't hate me for the elements I picked here)

I like light. Who would guess that? With a name like LightHikari? The elf in my previous story used light and healing magic.

Clearly water. As this was what my first original character was about.
A perfect elemental being that can form any possible structure with water and accelerate it to incredible speeds.
To me, it's the most versatile.
Although, depending on what you attribute to darkness, it may do similar.
Though eldritch Biomancy can be nice as well. (Yet I'm not sure if this counts as elemental)

My two moral antagonists use the elements of mist/ fog (trauma) and light (hope and protection), but my main protagonist uses the element of blood (judgment).
I like light. Who would guess that? With a name like LightHikari? The elf in my previous story used light and healing magic.
I also love light but in my fiction... light becomes a symbol from hope and protection of my moral antagonist who happens to oppose FMC (the antiheroine of the bloody justice) ethically, not hatefully.

Nature is nice because one can likely make poison with that one too. It's a 2-in-1 element.

Air and earth, which I mostly translate to gravity or sometimes decay, but with a bigger focus on the freedom of movement and the sensory aspects air brings to the table. But I'm a fan of the defensive aspects as well as the terraforming potential earth brings, as well.

Light/dark/fire has gotten boring over the years.

I definitely feel that way about dark and lightning... but that doesn't deter me from reading things with them!

I think my problem with lightning is that it's too one note? Would be cool to read more stories that include the muscle spasm and paralysis (or healing)? But I usually just see big lightning or railgun.
And dark... far too many edgy stories. It's often got a lot of interesting powers, but that edginess makes it harder to enjoy

Just wait until you meet my edgy self. DarkHikari.

Earth would have to be my favorite. Why? Because we have a history over how to take advantage of the terrain. That wealth of knowledge can be utilized in elemental magic too.

The first four is the true elemental in the most fundamental way. The rest are... not really elemental (except Lightning)

I beyond love Darkness. Its the element that has always resonated the most with me. (edgy kid here, watch out :blob_ghost:)
Though I feel that its mostly never used in stories as awesome as I want it to be, for real, I can only mention Black Clover where I have truly loved the Darkness and Shadow users.

Naruto's Shikamaru or JJK's Fushiguro let me down. they were never that cool and one lived their one fights. And don't even mention Solo Leveling's Jing Woo who doesn't uses Shadow powers at all but only undead magic labeled as shadows, geeeeeez. (I take it personal :blob_sweat:)

In my stories I have an Abyss and Radiance users in Voidlight and a literal Shadow user in Deathend as mc's so far :meowsip:

:blob_ghost: Necromancy. (Not really though, that's my least favorite magic.)
