No, it's not. English is spoken fluently by less than 18% of the world's population. Written Chinese has a pretty deep market, as do French, Russian, and Spanish, and they are much easier to write in.wider exposure, what else do you actually want? That is a dumb question
I considered translating my works into Russian. Fortunately, I am fluent in actually speaking Russian, but doing it well requires almost a complete rewrite, and I am not good enough to do it WELL in Russian.
So no, I don't support translations. Because they always suck and they are usually substandard and predatory. Thus, the question is why a writer is willing to drop their standards that far if their writing is good enough to be successful in their own language. And if it isn't, why are they subjecting others to it?
If you speak English, write the book in English. Don't translate it.
