To be more precise, what would you call a "bromance"-type story with girls instead? And how would it compare to a standard bromance?

I typically say "girlmance" (very creative of me). Think Wicked or KPop Demon Hunters. I also thought about posting this random query in the general forum, but I figured authors would have more thoughtful responses.

(On an unrelated note, who here has heard of and/or read The Loud House Revamped? Because I'm becoming tempted to read it and I need someone to stop me).

Besties? BFFs? TVTropes just calls both gender variants "Heterosexual Life Partners".
Ah, come to think of it, it was popular (for a while?) for everybody to call each other 'girlfriends' even if they weren't dating. That may have changed now that people are trying to be less homophobic.

Most of us call it 'cockblock sheepdogs'

That ugly, moody girl who hangs out with her hot 'best friend' and trashes every guy that comes near. The one high-test liquor exists to help clear the way, so she stops playing bulldog, although it won't help the bulldog look.
Then again, that's what a non-discriminating friend is for. That's why we buy that jerk drinks... because he clears the ugly sheepdog out for us so we can hunt the hot kitty in peace.

Girls don't do bromance. Ever. Their friendships are far more complex and transactional than we bro-dudes could ever hope to understand.

Proud nobody dropped Hoe-mance, so I can do it instead. :ROFLMAO:

A friend of mine called that trope "lesbian tryouts". He was talking about the whole all-girls school dynamics, but I think it kinda fits the whole female bromance vibe, at least if people don't use their lower brain to think about it.
