A note that this thread is strictly A-political.
It is focused on creating awareness of a growing trend for monopolistic control of creativity.
It is focused on the need for reform in patent, trademark, and copyright systems.
We are mostly all creatives and consumers of the creativity of others.
Let's keep any political distractions and unrelated nonsense out of the discussion.

I'm so done. I'm tired of being betrayed.
I'm sorry, I'm not into calling for boycotts.
They get away with this and they own creativity itself.
This behavior is a threat to consumers, developers, and gaming itself.
It needs to be punished.
Nintendo needs to be starved out of existence or we'll all pay the consequences.

I grew up with Nintendo. So, I'm really coming at this with a heavy heart.

I wish it was an easy task. I'm afraid Nintendo will win. They will work with Microsoftt, Sony, Activision and other big players to seal gaming media irrevocably in their control.

Nintendo has:

Near limitless money.
A huge IP library.
An army of Ninten-adults.
A hold on the hearts of our children. *they only see the cute facade*
A massive propaganda advantage.
A yakuza-like monopoly with government ties in Japan.
A hold on the US legal, copyright, and patent system.
The nostaligia in our hearts.

I'm afraid it's dark days ahead for independent creatives, fiction writers, artists, and developers.

Stop Killing Media Before It Is Born

I have been boycotting Nintendo for like 6 years anyway, so I'll just continue to do so lmao.
I think there needs to be a general awareness on the need for copyright and patent reform. The system has been broken so badly since the patenting of colors and other such nonsense. It has been over fifty years of corruption and rot. It needs to protect who it was originally meant to protect, small creators and inovators.

Yeah, corporate found out how to weaponize patents, and they can continue to do so with impunity since they control the rule of law.

I feel powerless.

I'm going to go buy a copy of Palworld now just to give Shitendo a middle finger.

The collective are not powerless, but they're often too ignorant to realize their power. Because each individual feels powerless, but a bunch of powerless people can do a lot.

The collective is powerful but the collective has consistently proven stupid. Pay to win and buggy, shitty games only became a norm because so many people buy them anyway. I would like to see people stop gargling the nutsack of companies like Nintendo but the people are retarded

Lol! Nothing will happen. You'll cry about it, then forget in a few months when the next Pokemon game comes out.

I've been hearing people cry about Nintendo since 2018. You're still buying their games.

It's like the retards and anime-tourists crying about fan service in anime. Funnily, it's never a problem when the guy is half naked though. Still, it's a bunch of bitching. And yet you'll be back to watch, while still bitching about it.

God's I hate people.

I haven't bought a nintendo product or service in two years.
I wasn't boycotting or aware of the bigger problems, but something has been feeling off.
When I see the Nintendo logo it literally makes me a little ill inside.
More people need to feel like this or nothing will change.
But yeah, probably so. You're probably right.
And with that attitude, we'll get what we deserve. ?‍♀️?‍♂️

Ive been telling people to vote with their wallets for a long time now, unfotunatly there are to many people who either dont care, or are to stupid to understand.

All Big IPs: First they become culturally embedded, then it becomes legal entrenchment.

I'm proud to admit that I became the Pokemon Champion in all regions from Kanto to Galar. And I never spent a single dime.
Emulators ftw
Dude, at this point I want them to have a hold over my time and my mind that is as minimal as possible. I'll play nice with others because it's a big part of the cultural landscape that even I used to care about, but that's about it.
