Hello everyone, I’m rainchip (most people just call me rain).

My story What Comes After is a zombie-apocalypse drama focused on a group of broken, struggling people trying to escape the city as everything collapses around them.

At the center is Ren—born in a world where magic was as natural as air. Others relied on runes, words, and artifacts, but Ren was different: a void, a living catalyst who passively absorbed mana into vast reserves. In his world, that made him powerful. In ours, where no mana exists, his magic is a dangerous double-edged sword. Haunted by war and stranded in a collapsing modern Japan, he faces an outbreak tearing through ordinary people who were never meant to face such horror — while confronting both his past and his uncertain future.

You have assumed right. People do come here and promote their work that they posted on SH, and there is nothing wrong with it.
Sure, we have more authors than readers here, but that doesn't mean it won't work, as authors also read others' works from time to time.
Do not be sorry, you did nothing wrong.
I hope readers will find you. Don't feel discouraged if you don't see much traffic in the first day, as most of us only pick the story when it has a certain number of chapters/words at a minimum. So just write and have fun :3

Thank you so much for being so nice. I was just worried because I saw my forum post was on the main page too and I didn't want to come off as a jerk hogging that spot or something. I didn't even know it would put my post up there. I feel a lot better now knowing I didn't really do anything wrong

You don't need to delete this thread. Promotion is fine as long as it's ethical and polite. After all, many authors here reply to threads while promoting their work. That's perfectly legitimate. However, it's important to note that you shouldn't expect a large readership. A popular story is a combination of various market-reader factors (creating an attractive cover, a compelling synopsis, an authentic moral premise, choosing the right genre and tags, etc.) and sometimes a little luck.

TvT thank you so much. I wasn't planning on spamming or anything just wanted to keep that first week energy as strong as possible. I've got a long ways to go and that's if I even manage to get lucky, but I'm overly excited to try.

yeah they do but they shouldnt, its a waste of time and it doesnt really help in anything
