What Metaphor Describes Your Novels as Important in Your Life?

Every author has their own perspective on their works. Their novels have become an inseparable part of their lives (whether as a hobby or a profession).

For example, for me, my novels are my 'inner children'. They are born from experiences, traumas, understandings, loves, and hopes in my life, both personal and social, and I nurture my works with dedication (even if there is no material reward).

Like a mother who gives birth to children with blood and sweat, and raises them with unconditional love through dedication of body and soul.

You may have other metaphors to place your works in your life; perhaps a mirror, perhaps a seed of a plant, perhaps a diary, etc. Finally, every author may have their own perspective regarding their works.

All my stories are looking glasses into my soul, my own issues, or questions about identity, self-worth, belonging, etc.

Calling it a mirror into my soul works from my perspective.

There is a worm in my head and it tells me to write, and if I don't it eats my brain.

This comment is dark but it holds truth. I understand your feeling. (One of my novels was also so weird that no one read it except me, so it just languished in a folder).?

A phrase comes to mind:
"A fool and his money are soon parted"
I was an idiot for investing in something as printing my books. What a waste.
But what is done is done, at least in an emergendy situation I have an unlimited supply of toilet paper.
