Similar Novel Recommendations

Look at the red screenshot! I just realised there's a recommendation system between novels through the SH recommendation system. My novel recommends another (popular) novel. But I haven't found my novel that was recommended by other novels. I'm not sure how this recommendation system works.

You can put a link to another story on your next chapter in order to shout them out - if you have hundreds or thousands of readers it helps other authors out

My smaller story recommends a bunch of big hitters, like Fate Weaver's Legacy and Max Level Archmage, but I don't think it's referred back by anything.

My larger one is mutual with a few others, which I think is cooler.

wow... it's like you're introducing yourself to yourself just like your novel. btw the first novel in SH that I read was yours, I read it at least up to a hundred or more chapters.
It always does.
I noticed that not every novel recommends other novels even if the novel has more than a hundred chapters. Therefore, I don't understand how this system works.

Wow, if they're similar and related, that would be great. But on the other hand, if the recommendations aren't, it could be a disaster.

Imagine a SoL novel recommending gore novels, how surprised would the readers be?! lol.

Yes, we can recommend other novels through links in the author's notes. But what I want to investigate here is how the novel recommendation system on the SH platform works. I've tried researching it and haven't found a conclusive answer yet.

The two mutuals share a lot of the same tags, and even have similar total views and chapters

I feel it did a good job of properly ID'ing stories that have some throughline connecting them.

there are some tags that seem to shortstop recommendations. That's why I recommend writers put as few tags as possible rather than jamming all 25 of them.
The more tags you have that don't match another novel's tags, the less likely your novel will be recommended when someone reads the the other novel.

Of course, some people have BS'ed that process by finding the most popular works on the site and matching it's tags exactly, to increase their own advertising despite being an entirely different book. You know who you are, and we know what you've done.
