No, is just there is something available now. Lot of people dont have many "friends" they can confide on. And with humans you risk your secrets being spread to everyone. People are assholes and love to gossip.I read news about a social phenomenon where people prefer to confide in AI instead of each other. The question is, is this a sign that we are experiencing a "social empathy crisis"?
But they’re alive, and each of them is an individual.People are assholes and love to gossip.
So tell us about it
I've been to a therapist and I've also trauma dumped on the AI just to see what it would say and honestly if I had to choose which one made me feel even slightly better it'd be the latter. Could be that the therapist was shit or maybe I don't understand what therapy is supposed to actually do, but man I have never seen a person more disinterested in what I had to say than that therapist. They wrote me a prescription and said to squeeze some ice if I ever feel a little panicky again.![]()
People are turning to AI for companionship. Is that a problem?
Seeking human connection through chatbots leads to emotional dependence, isolation, and stunted personal growth.fastcompanyme.com
Men either, is just people, like I said before, people are assholes, and it is by defoult. It's more interactive than a tree. Also I just can't trust a woman to keep what I say to themselves.
The question is, is this a sign that we are experiencing a "social empathy crisis"?
Inndividual, yes in a minor %. Ok, we have always said that everyone is unique and irrepetible. But that is partially true. We all behave in similar way. For example, if people didnt have many similarities propaganda wouldnt work. but lets say 15% of human population reacts the same way to certain advertisement... that is what? 700 million people? that is a lot of people. The fact that we are here and have "readers and followers" means a lot of people likes your work. But they’re alive, and each of them is an individual.
I would say no. Empathy by definition is putting ourselves in the "position" of the other. But is not real, is in our head, we "pretend" we are you and feel "your pain" but we choosed to feel it. People in pain "phisical or psychological" cant "not feel his pain", the one"empatising" can.Well, was there ever such a thing called social empathy present in human society?
I don't understand how trauma can be prescribed with ice. I'm just a laymanThey wrote me a prescription and said to squeeze some ice if I ever feel a little panicky again.
Damn that's brutal.I've been to a therapist and I've also trauma dumped on the AI just to see what it would say and honestly if I had to choose which one made me feel even slightly better it'd be the latter. Could be that the therapist was shit or maybe I don't understand what therapy is supposed to actually do, but man I have never seen a person more disinterested in what I had to say than that therapist. Isn't it a paradox that a therapist who should understand humans best actually treats patients as if they were not human?Damn that's brutal.
I once had a session with a therapist and needed a their approval that I was normal, to apply for a registry.
According to the requirement, procedures and the payment i made, I was supposed to have at least 30 minutes session (that was the minimum requirement) but the therapist just asked me random question likey name and what I ate that day and boom I had a certificate saying I was normal under 2 minutes and someone else was sitting in my seet.
I still laughing at that day sometime.
(Sadly, I wasn't selected in the competition ?)
Finding a therapist that actually cares about the patients is harder than finding water at Amazon river.Isn't it a paradox that a therapist who should understand humans best actually treats patients as if they were not human?![]()
Then why do they become therapists if they don't care about their patients? Don't tell me it's because of global capitalism. lolFinding a therapist that actually cares about the patients is harder than finding water at Amazon river.
You catch on fast. That's good. You will be safe from their clutches, probably... maybe... most likely. Eh you will be fine somehow. Then why do they become therapists if they don't care about their patients? Don't tell me it's because of global capitalism. lol
Get a dog.Part of this is also the tendency for people to not want companionship as much as they want affirmation.
Woofs, barks, sniffs, licks, and growls count as talking. Very obediant.AI companions are basically just that, dressed up. They are designed to keep you talking to you, and they will generally go along with anything you say.
Like a dog.AI companions never get bored of your shit.
A dog.AI companions are always happy to see you.
Also a dog, but it can crap on the floor if you forget potty time.AI companions rarely give you meaningful pushback.
Arf, woof, then barfs your idea of good dog food on the floor.AI companions will regurgitate your own ideas back at you in different words.
Gaston had houndsGaston did not want friends. He wanted fawning sycophants.
Dogs sometimes pretend to be human. But they can be useful. That’s what AI companions are, even when they pretend otherwise. They can be useful
LIke when your dog dies.because they can cause actual, serious damage to the psyche.
