Digital Cowboy only has 20 chapters out of 80+ written (each one 1100-2000 words long)
Between Worlds has 1.5 more chapters written with about 3000 words between them
I have a romance novel of roughly 30 chapters.
Five other stories that made it to 3 - 5 chapters.
One at two chapters just started a month ago
And the story I finished on Honeyfeed.
Oh, and two or three more chapters of True Blue.
WOW. how do you even feel typing all that!? Honestly I’m proud of you. You’ve accomplished so much!
Average is an UNDERSTATEMENT! You’ve got a pretty big number there buddy :)
It's not shame! It's just that most authors here (at least those who appear constantly on the forum) have those words count or higher.

Even you!

I have the lowest and I’m proud haha!
Last I looked, I had passed 760K words written in the past 3 years. Given the number of not yet published chapters, I should have somewhere between 780k to 790k words written, and this does not include the early chapters for a few spin off titles I have prepared. So more than 800K total, if we include everything available on Patreon.
THAT’S ACTUALLY CRAZY!! Props to you for all your hard work and perseverance. By the way, your work looks great. I’ll give it a look ;)

It's been a keeping me pretty busy, but what's really crazy is that I know people who put out more than me.

I put out chapters with a 2k minimum twice a week. Now, thanks to my flow improving and such, some of those chapters are 3-4k, and some of my earlier chapters have been edited to fill in things that bring them past 5k. But that is still just the two chapters a week.

There are stories that put out 2k+ chapters every day (such as Dungeon of Knowledge).

One author who did that for her first work decided that was a bit overkill and she needed more time to herself, so she cut it down to only four chapters a week for her second work.

And I hope you enjoy. :)

For some reason my word count and page views are aligned. If I include the two deleted works, the total comes to ~381k.

Here: 275,910 in two stories.
+ The machiavelian knight 50000, Abajo en las estrellas: 45000, Cookie jars: 17000, La rubia 7000, lo herederos de toma: 18000, The green pines house horror: 17000, two collections of short tales: like other 50000
Total: 477000 give or take in 5 years. A lot more if we take into consideration all the shorts I wrote since 2002...

Around 136K.

Now that I'm editing, I'm actually reducing the word count.

around half of that is just one story in particular and after writing 15,000 words a week at the peak now I can't seem to get past 500 without finding reasons to procrastinate

Well lemme see... Ok so Immaculate has about 130k, thats my longest one. Empire of Mercy is sitting around 100k. Generation C is split three ways and kinda confusing owing to the number of alternate versions it has, but somewhere around 50k. Restless Sleeper, which has never been posted anywhere, got up to 41k before I put it on indefinite hiatus. My variety of one-shots reached about 40k. And finally, my cowritten works with my cousin are at about 90k.

So if I was to claim personal credit for half of the cowritten words, that would leave total word count at about ~400k words. Only counting current drafts of stories, I'm guessing that number would spike to like 600k or so if I included rough drafts. And if I only included 'finished' drafts it would fall to like 300k probably.

Of course, I only got like 185k posted on this site.

YOU’VE BEEN WRITING SINCE 2002!? How does it feel being OG? I bet your word count would break the chart if you considered the incomplete works ?

OKAY I SEE YOU. THAT’S SO IMPRESSIVE ?
Its not how big your word count is, it's how you use your words.:blob_wink:
You are one wise person ?

That’s amazing! I’m sure there’s much more to come. How’s co-writing by the way? I feel like it’s really fun

Yeah. I have been writing shorts since 2002. My longest work until 2019 was just 18000 words. I published it in 2022 a 82 pages book. Got a decent reception, all five stars in amazon, but is in spanish and I lack publicity soo... Before that got a few short stories published in a magazine un 2014 and 2015. But that is about it, still looking for my magnus opus and my great success... If it ever comes. But, at least I tried.

2002? Pshaw. First published in 1987 (unpaid stuff for a college literary magazine; first paid stuff was for a role-playing game in '89). Been writing "stuff" since '83... Nothing worthwhile until 2000 or so (or ever, depending on whom you ask) but writing stuff...

LOL I asked them to show off silly.
Honestly reading your publishing history made me really proud. Not only did you publish, but you also went out of your way and tried. I hope your books get the recognition they deserve one day!

Are you playing with me sir/ma’am!? So how was life back in the 80’s
If I had to guess it's between 1.5mil and 2mil, but if I said how many of those words were deleted, it's also a mil.
MIL!? FPLOKIJHTRSCMK ?. Now I’m wondering why you deleted a mil too. Sus ?

Aside from the paranoia about acid rain and nuclear war, it wasn't too bad (and there was a bit too much Big Hair - a little is nice but EVERYWHERE? Ick).
Though we did not appreciate how good the music we had was until the next generation started putting out their crap... :s_tongue:
