A loving tip for people owned by cats... *^^*

I just read this remarkable tip and thought I'd share to cat lovers everywhere.

There's a really meaningful expression or facial movement you can do that cats love more than most. While a cat is close by you, look them in the eyes intently, wait for them to look back at you, and then blink slowly. It might take a few tries, but when a cat sees this, the meaning is "I love you", and if you're lucky (like me), your cat will blink slowly back at you, to say "I love you too." If you're really lucky, you'll get a soft "mrrerp" from them too, and that's probably the best gift of all.

We had a cat exactly like that. Very stubborn and mean, wouldn't associate with anyone or the other cats, but at night, she'd be near my head curled up to sleep. I think because she was 100% feral when we got her - not even a shelter cat, but a runt we found on the street and took in. But I guess we did okay; she lived for 18 years. ?

Hmm. Might not work on dogs. I haven't owned a dog in so long. *^^*

I had a couple of Maine Coon mixed cats before I left for my current home (The cats may have been owned by my mother, it by being “he who feeds,” they were my cats.) The fuzzy little jerks didn’t respond to this, but they didn’t have to, as far as I was concerned.

Do you get to go home soon or is this long-term? When I was away for a month out West I was on the phone every day to talk to my cats, who were staying home with my housemate. We'd share phones and take live videos and such, and I let them hear my voice. It really helped me.

oh, Yes I do this sometimes with my cat. He's a little dumb, but I love him.

I would go crazy in a cat cafe. lol
Wouldn't eat or drink anything, just curl up on the floor and let them come at me. ?

Funny thing is, the concept of 'treats' doesn't really exist from where I am from, especially in poorer households. The cats behave themselves too well... The highest form of spoiling them I've done was playing with them with a cat wand or feeding them canned sardines, or they join us at the dinner table, because there's no stopping them.

Perfect. That's respect of the highest order.

I think not giving cats attention also makes them want to be with you... I show favoritism to one cat who behaves better than the other. As a result, that cat now avoids me, and the other cat wants me. If I avoid them at the same time, now, they want me both. It's weird having cats.

They each have their own orbit. They'll revolve around you in different ways, speeds, or paths. But they are, bottom line, dependent on you for everything. They sound like they are shelter cats, is that true? *^^*

There is no such thing as shelter cats in our place. There's strays and then there's housepets. No shelter cats or dogs. If it is, like in other cities, these shelter cats only exist to keep certain 'breeds' to make a quick cash or something. Our cats came from the streets, well, their mom is... Kind of a sad story, really. We grew close to this female cat. My mom feeds it our leftover, since our dog died. (RIP, Ulap, such a housewrecker, that one.) Mom went abroad for some time and mom cat became a reminder of sorts. I was in the capital city at that time, studying. Cat becomes close to those left, and time went on, Mom returned, and I returned, cat mom gave birth, and she left her kittens to us, never to be seen again after a few weeks or so of nursing its babies. The consensus was it died and picked up by the neighbor to be eaten. I have a feeling it was bitten by a snake, more common and less gory that way.
