Beware the artist scammers

Hello, fellow authors. I want to inform you to be weary of someone commenting on your story about art, and especially be weary of people commenting on your story in your inbox. More and more often these people are art scammers who want you to buy 'their' art that they stole from someone else. Sometimes there are simply nice people, but don't let that warm feeling cloud your judgment.

If you see these people in your comments, report them. If they are giving you complements in your DM before asking you to commission them, report them.

Yeah, I made a post about this a while back. They ask to move to discord each time also. They're really annoying, and apparently are also infecting royal road.

Is fine, it was over a month ago, and at the time I thought they were just bots, before I learned they were straight up scammers.

Yeah. I've been getting comments from "Artists" on Wattpad. Most of them seem to live in Texas.

The last time I commented on one of these scammers, their group started trolling and review bomb my work lol. There are some very old users here on SH with thousands of comments and points, working with them. So, just block and ignore them unless you want to get spammed and trolled by them. They are all over fanfic site and now here.

No. I am more surprised than anything. But I did get someone from a shady Hong Kong company asking me to write Text Advertures for their app. It was very weird.
It happened about a month or two after I first started writing. And I wasn't that good at editing my work.
