Can't commit to one story

I wanna write like you guys do but I can't seem to write consistently and when I pick a story that I wanna commit to, I ended up disliking what I wanna write.

I don't know if it's because I have no idea how to do the world building or the characterization.

But I've written a fanfic before and just finished it on January (Wattpad) and now that I finished it, I can't seem to focus on my originals.

How do you guys do it? Any tips or advice? (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠`⁠；⁠)

There's nothing wrong with what you're doing. I started more projects than I can count, and when it didn't click right: Deleted. I discipline myself to write the stories I really want to tell. Maybe the story you started hasn't clicked with you yet. Have you tried emulating another story you like? No fanfic, but you take their same premise, and you start writing from there. It's your own spin on a tale already told.

Ah! I'm doing that right now actually but it's taking me really slow :'DD I'm still at 200 words and I'm just not sure if it's good or not since I know what is what.

Not sure if I'm putting in the right amount of info or just info dumping.

And the dialogue just seems boring when I read it, I tried putting in the "she said in a shrilled voice" but I feel like I've been overdoing it (⁠*⁠﹏⁠*⁠;⁠)

I wouldn't worry about the way people are speaking as much as the words being said.

Maybe instead of saying things like 'she said in a shrill voice' use a different verb like 'screamed'. using stronger verbs can help with that a lot. Hopefully that helped some

Just my own outlook on things, but when I write, I don't focus on grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. I just try to get the story itself onto the page before all else.

I've tired to do the whole 'edit as you go' but I always end up sitting there and adjusting things forever and ever.

Flow, for me, is everything. I can have spelling mistakes so bad that Google Docs doesn't even know what to do with them because my fingers can't keep up with my thoughts.

I only edit afterwards, and honestly, I've found a lot of success in avoiding that trap of overthinking it all.

I force myself to commit at least 2 to 3 hours to write a chapter for my main story (1.5k to 2.5k words). We do so many stupid things every day, like watching YouTube videos, playing games, and wasting hours on Discord. There is no real excuse not to just invest a few hours into your story. I struggle on some days, but I've gotten used to it. 1 Day = at least 1 chapter. After I am done, I always feel great ;)
What I struggle with are my other stories. I've started another fic, but stopped after 11 chapters, and I didn't even release it yet.
Now I am working on an original but I plan to at least finish 40 chapters before I consider releasing it.
Working on multiple stories at the same time is maybe too much for me. I really need to rethink my current approach.
