Defining "cussing" as a profanity that most people would not want their toddlers to say/hear.

When did you start to pick up the vocabulary? Are profanities good? Are they bad? What type circumstances do use profanities?

I use them multiple times a week. I used to never swear until I joined the military, and then I went from never swearing to swearing every day, and now it's a few times a week.

All the mutherfucking time. Fuck is my most used word. I am the great grandson of a sailor, who himself came from 300 years of sailors. I've also done some sailing. I'm 32, in constant low (for me) pain.

One of the guys in my basic training platoon was offended by foul language. The DS told him "this is the infantry nobody understands what the fuck you are saying if you dont fucking swear, you God damned, peice of shit bitch."

It was an enlightening experience.

I count by day. Like 6 to 12 times a day. Maybe. I try not to, simply because I want to be able to be creative in my trash talk beyond the 7 words.

Verbally? I can count on one hand the number of people who have heard me swear.

Mentally? Plenty.

They're just words. I only avoid saying them because I don't want my kid to get in trouble when he starts going to school. He already went through a "What the fuck!?" phase, and I managed to convince him that "What!?" would be enough.

I don’t swear.
Also why would I cuss?
I don’t think anyone can find a post of me cussing on here.

Very rarely do I cuss, unless you count damn and damned, it isn’t that said words don’t have a use, but only rarely do I need them.

Well, according to that shitty poll, you're all a damn sorry ass bunch of crude little shits. I'm not going to bitch about it even though I'm a very very very very wholesome bull and would never use such fucked up language ever.

I swear on average 107 times an hour or about 1,284 times a day on average… I talk a lot… and yes these numbers are accurate and I did in fact count my average daily swears for 3 months in late 2023… so in all honesty it is probably more than that now… swearing is a sign of good heath and should be done as often as possible! I started swearing at 10 years old as that is when my mama said I was old enough to cuss! I swear in most sentences though most of my talking is with the invisible person I always imagine is with me to listen to my wild monologues and stories-nya.

:blob_sweat: I picked up swearing pretty early, although now I kind of grew out of it and am rather just replacing those words with innocent stuff like "goof" or just not using any sentences that would need a cuss word in it. Funnily you could thank the internet for that ironically.

Are profanities good/bad largely depends on the culture, it also depends on if you want to insult the person/people/inanimate object/animal as well. So you could say I'm on the ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ of this spectrum.

What type circumstances do use profanities?
really special occasions.
