I had bit of spare time and decided to look around at the new books section. Now I won't take names, but out of the ten books that I gave a chance, I am highly suspicious at least 6 or 7 are AI written slop.
I don't mind if you are using LLM because your language is maybe a bit poor but you have a great story to tell, but what's unacceptable is that these people are literally flooding the new books page with stuff that barely has human input apart from the basic story.

As a wise man, I'll say that creation is dirt cheap, and only persuasion is survival. If they can't persuade anyone to read it, it's dead by itself. And the LLM written stories are often low grade trash, because prompters suck balls trying to do storytelling with it. If they can't write, don't know what's the storytelling is about, and don't persuade anyone to continue to check up upon the webnovel, what do you think will happen? Obscurity by design. The system is designed to kill itself, and reporting users and moderators will make sure that 100% LLM generated stories will disappear once seen. It works, even if it takes time. A Valve Time.

As wise people said, who are you to decide who is more worthy; writer, or fanfic writer? Both deserve respect.

Who are you to decide who is more worthy; prompter or artist, prompter or writer? Both deserve respect.
Bruh, SHF already has enough anti fanfic threads, make another one or go there to masturbate yourself instead of doing this shitty baitposting

I just wish we can tag them though? There should be an option to filter them out of your page? It's really hard to go through each work and finding out it is AI. Instead, there should be some system to filter them out from my page.
If only we could block said author completely, including from "trending" and not just their posts/messages.
Imagine how many human-written novels would appear there.
Feels like a nice dream.
Yeah, there needs to be a way to tag these works. Like use AI, but at least mention in your synopsis that it is AI so that you aren't deceiving anyone.

fanfic? what's this got to do with fanfic? I am just saying that there needs to be a way to tag them.

It occurred to me recently that said person should be quite silent considering the origins of the SH as a site. :blob_hide:

How do you tell? I've not come across anything too concerning yet, but I've only just begun browsing.

How are you going to force authors to tag it with AI though? Translations are against the rules, so people simply remove any notion that it is a translation, change cover and alter the title from original, and call it a day. More often than not they also use AI to translate it. There's no way of fighting it. Don't delude yourself into thinking they do it for the art, it is business for them, side hustle.

Makes sense. But wait, if someone plagiarises a work like you mentioned, won't they be caught quite quickly? Is there an example on this site that has escaped?

All of them escaped. ?‍♂️ Just open up todays trending and browse through stories. You will find them.

Ok, here's two examples.

Compare chapters. They are obviously slightly different, since they used different AI to translate, but those are the same stories. Both are on trending, both have patreons, both hide those are translations. Maybe authors mention they are actually translators? Nope.

The Scribble Hub is a tiny site run by the single person as a personal project, I think.

Moderator actions take time.

Days, even, or more, as it probably needs prioritized since every review, every new story, every cover, is manually approved by the single person: the site owner is also site's only moderator.

This isn't the corporate enterprise with a nearly unlimited budget.

No problem!

Also as much as annoying and troublesome it is, we shouldn't actually add LLM/AI tag warning. The hard and slow method (by reporting) is the only good way to make them disappear. Like we can't use AI checkers because they are notoriously unreliable, and it's not like these accounts would out themselves. Tony can't read everything, so it'll help if he finds a series is already reported a dozen of times being an AI.

Anyway, down with LLM!

Those are small fries. There are a lot more novels with 200-300k views, and patreons that earns them around 1000$. So yeah, go ahead and force them to confess those are AI translations, so that they will lose their revenue. I will observe how well they are going to take it.
