That's right, it's just as the title says.

What work is it that you know is messed-up, batshit crazy, or just straight up trash, but it's so bad that it's good, and you just can't stop because you want to see how far it goes, and how much insanity the author/artist can shove into it.

For me, it's [Rosen Garten Saga].

I started reading last night, and I've already caught up to all 82 chapters.

This stuff is just so insane that it I hadn't been someone who is an avid genderbender reader, while also reading futa smut once in a while, with the occasional NTR, and sometimes stuff that edges yaoi, I would be shell-shocked by just the first five chapters.

Here's a few panels to help you understand, they might even get removed, and the worst(best) part? It's justhetip...

And it doesn't help that the art is so ? ?

PS: somehow, most of my images seem to be of Beowulf, when the protagonist is infact the one in the last picture, but what can I say? Beowulf is the goat. I'm not gay, but would ####

PS PS: It's surprisingly accurate too, and you'll realize the creators did their research in German and Norse mythology.

Gal cleaning. One of the greatest crashouts in history. It started as some generic nerd and gyaru talking about cleaning into some batshit insane dark story because it's getting axed so the mangaka just kept publishing chapters in parts to avoid the axe and post some insane shit.
Then there was that phase where mangaka kept on writing (blank) apocalypse horror shit. From flying goldfish, giant chickens to magical girls(the most insane one of all). The magical girl one was just nonstop gore at the beginning and turned into a shounen manga halfway through.

Just searched it up and wow, just wow.

You know what? I just might read it, and any other work posted in this thread.

I'm in the mood for some voluntary trauma

Rosen Garten isn't bad though? It's just weird. Now don't get defensive here, since I'm not trying to depreciate this or other works, Rosen Garten is a standard 'weird' manga. Same as Jagaaan, Super Ball Girls, and other weird titles. Yes, I used word standard, but I used it since I can't come up with better term. Anyway, those works aren't bad, they are weird.

As for your question, I might enjoy something bad, but I will never think it is top tier entertainment\fiction, absolute cinema, etc. I consume trash because there isn't enough good works. If I could, I would've only read good works.

No worries, never thought of getting defensive. Of course, I'm more of a manhwa/webtoon guy, and I only recently started reading mangas, so I wasn't aware of the standard for what was weird or not in mangas, or if this kind of stuff was a dime a dozen.

Though I do feel you're downplaying the insanity in Rosen Garten. Maybe you've read enough of similar stuff that you've been desensitized, but like I said, I just started reading manga.

PS: Strip off the weirdness, and it has a surprisingly good storyline.

PS PS: Pls recommend more of similar stuff to me, I'm in the mood for rabbit holes.

Uh, I might mislead you with my reply. I'm not sure myself what is a standard for weird mangas, I think it's on a person who reads a particular manga to decide. But I do know that manga has this separate, not genre, but category. This category is manga that is weird. It can be comedy, horror, drama, whatever, and it is weird at the same time. Lastly, not every horror is weird.

Another thing I want to mention here, really weird stuff is usually unpopular. People might say Dandadan is weird, Junji Ito's works are weird, Chainsaw Man, and so on. They are not. Really weird stuff is usually obscure, and barely anyone knows about it. And I'm not trying to act like an elitist here, it's a matter of fact.

As for recs, I don't enjoy weird manga. I usually banish the title of the manga into a netherrealm as soon as I find out it's weird. Apart from the ones I mentioned above I can mention Biorg Trinity, it is straight up incomprehensible. I think @gaylolis might help since he enjoys weird manga. P.S. If not, sorry for tagging you.

Unsure whether they qualify, but 'Deadlines are Raining in the Status Window' or 'If you Touch my Younger Brother, You're Dead'

They're not as absurd as your examples, but have some whacko stuff going on. Sadly I quit both after I discovered the author likes ending her novels with reverse harems. Glen was such a cute and sweet guy, he didn't deserve such horrid treatment. Glen supremecy! All Hail the Glen!

I have to disagree, Rosen Garten Saga is peak. You were finding copper after getting scammed by Ea-Nasir and found a goldmine.

What happen in the dungeon is another peak series.

Uncontested. Rosen Garten is indeed peak. Came for the crazy reputation, stayed for the underlying story and lit art.

And somehow, what happened in the dungeon was also another one recommended along with Rosen Garten Saga, and I already bookmarked it.

Let me introduce you to a true masterpiece, the Invisible Dragon
A classic. You can't call yourself a webnovel reader if you haven't read invisible dragon.
?I need to cleanse my eyes with yuri smut after seeing that spoiler.
And it's not that bad...

It's Yuri in a way. The MC likes girls.
The funiest thing about rosen garten saga for me is that there is an arabic translation of a few of the initial chapters.

Whoever translated that gotta be the bravest soul alive lol
Whoa, Arabic translation? Brave is an understatement. Especially with a work like this that seems to have made it a goal to utilize every fetish in existence.
