ok so what's your favorite microbe? I'm gonna have to go with the Hydra. It looks metal as fudge and is practically immortal, plus it looks like a squid which ups the cuteness factor, I mean look at this thing! metal and cute, PERFECT!

I don't know how your surviving within the environment that your in but you just got into an encounter with a microbe that wants to eat you!....SO CHOOSE WHICH MICROBE(S) YOUR GOING TO FIGHT AND WHAT YOUR CHANCES ARE! (you can only fight with your favorite microbe that you picked before)

hmm good point however air resistance and the fact that most of what you'd try to shoot would be slimes would make it probably ineffective ( – ⌓ – ) I think

edit: honestly I think a bullet would fare as much damage it usually does to a ballistic gel

if the air resistance is enough to effect the bullet would you even be able to breathe the air? Since the air molecules are so big would you even be able to use the oxygen even if you could breathe?

Its like a 4x faction where you can't research or build any structures, but every turn each of your militia units spawn a new militia. No matter what microbe you are actually trying to cultivate, soon enough you will be cultivating E.Coli. Give up on diversity and just become an E.Coli specialist.
