I am editing the first half of my book right now (slow-burn epic fantasy with some progression elements) before I continue writing and finish it. Everything that I have written so far, I have written on my smart phone. No plug-in keyboards. Straight text-mode. Now, I finally have a place of my own with an actual desktop.

Which led me to ask: where is the strangest place that you have written?

I do most of my writing on my phone through Google docs. Not only can I access it anywhere, but I find it easier to focus on writing when using my phone instead of my computer. None of my books were completely written on my phone, but I'd say my latest ones were written about ~70% on it.

I do about 80-90% of the actual writing (and 10-20% of the editing) on my phone, and reverse those numbers on my laptop.

Writing porn at work.

Because it was all in text, it was somewhat ok until someone pointed out that my work did not require me to type that much.

Better than when I was watching Invincible and CEO saw me and I got a phone call from my manager.

My brother and uncle were super into NASCAR. My uncle nabbed some free tickets (think it was one of those things where a company gets involved and gives them out to employees) and invited the whole family. I'm sorry to all the NASCAR fans, but I don't enjoy it. I ended up writing in a notepad the whole time through all that cacophony. XD

My husband wrote the entirety of his trilogy (probably about 300k words) on the Notes app of his phone. It's fun to know he's not the only one  ?

I write basically everything from my phones. The last 40 articles were on my phone as it's a bitch to get a laptop through security at the capitol. Phones... not so much

Whoa... There are a bunch of us phone writers out here! I'll be honest, ever since I got the desktop, it's been a slower go of it - might have to go back to the phone.

I don't know how you all do it on your phones, to be honest.
I use not only my laptop but also two extra monitors for my writing.
Maybe it's because I have too much going on in my stories, and I have several draft editions that I switch between them constantly.
Especially if I'm working on a completely new world-building.
For example, I work on a long-term story that magic exists along with hybrids. So, on one monitor, I write my main story while on the other monitor, I work on the magic language, and on the other one, I work on the magic components used in rituals. I sometimes have to even switch between documents. In this case, for example, I also have to work on the ritual book.
But hey, in the end, I have not just one book but a main storybook, plus a completely new language and two complimentary books about magic rituals and magic components and where to find them:blob_joy:

Let's see: on the toilet, on the kitchen countertop, under the covers with the flashlight on, on a public toilet (someone knocked and asked me what I was doing, b/c I'd spent almost half an hour in the toilet stall), and on the plane. I don't use a smartphone to write, though. I'm not very good at texting-typing on my smartphone. If I'm not writing on my desktop computer, I'm writing/scribbling in a notebook.

Quite easy, at least in my case. Everything (world, languages, denizens, etc) I need is in my head (years of being a Game Master really helps here), all I have to do is write it in any order. I can rearrange and edit on PC later.
I can so relate to this. I had spent years DM/GMing and I had also spent hours worldbuilding just for fun. I created my own TTRPG from Pathfinder's Ultimate Campaign, ASOIAF's TTRPG, tarot cards, and dice and I had this Civilization-like experience where I would be simultaneously be building up all these kingdoms while events unfolded in their history. It was great! I had drawn the map of my world so many times. All of this stuff is now in my head, accessible whenever I need it.
