On platforms like Royal Road, it is very beneficial to have multiple covers to swap between in the initial stages of the novel, that's why having 2-3 good covers is a must. As it's very expensive to get genuine art commisions, AI art is the only way in the initial stages. That's where I come in. I will create everything from a custom title, to the art, and then bundle it up in Photoshop. It's extremely cheap. Here is some stuff I did.

I've helped out authors behind Six Souls, Shadow Ascendant, Mantle of Gods and others.

If its ai generated, free covers then why do you think someone would pay?

Convenience. Saving Time.

This is for people don’t know how to use AI or Photoshop properly. I’ve already completed two commissions—one for Razor’s Edge and another for Herald of Chaos. As I mentioned before, this is mainly for Royal Road authors. You need 2-3 covers to rotate between, and I provide that. My prices are around 1/20th of what traditional artists charge. This is just a temporary solution until your novel gains traction and stabilizes—at that point, a professionally illustrated cover is the better choice.

I'm actually surprised you managed to use AI covers in Royal Road since they have a strict policy of no AI writing or art in their TOS. I've had some authors that posted there with AI covers and they weren't approved and those who managed to pass by it ended up being punished with their novels deleted and stuff. Did they change their policy in the meantime? :blob_hmm:

It reminds me so much of my treasured Walnut Stories cover that never got written…

Tbh whoever spends money on AI it’s their decision. And it’s mine to think they financially unenlightened.
What if we frame it differently? :blob_hmm_two: They don't pay for AI, they pay for editing. Rhetoric question, I know your answer.

It's only for that they pay, or so I hope, cause that don't take long to make AI cover even without using the ones you need to pay to have access to.
But there tons of people on this forum that kindly accept to help with editing for free with a quality that could fit for you before this sentence become correct "This is just a temporary solution until your novel gains traction and stabilizes—at that point, a professionally illustrated cover is the better choice."

Go to fiverr for some professional title logo. Could probably get a psd file of the logo too to reuse.

OP should be more popular on RR. On SH it’s kinda redundant? Plenty folks here are very good with AI and prompt for free.

Yup. I mainly focus on RR. The more I've ventured into this, the more I've learned that it's the older folks who I target. The First Mana Mage cover was made for a gentleman in his 70s, and he wanted the clothes to be exactly the same as an irl uniform he had showed me, along with the sword being a rapier? Idk. It took me 2 hours to edit that stuff in. It's convenience and time for which I provide my service. Beyond that it's mainly for RR ads and multiple covers at launch. Even right now I am having a convo with someone to create prototypes, and they will get the best performing one professionally illustrated.

You fail to consider my own time I spent learning prompting and photoshop, multiple revisions for how the image should feel, once what the client really wants is finalize, I generate more stuff in that posture or style, and then finalize an image, then I edit it. For the ad with that girl, it took me an hour to reach that image, client just said a broken cyborg girl, we went back on forth for brainstorming and reached that image, and then even more changes were done after getting feedback from others.
