I need help in regards to AI-Grammar issue IN Wordtune

I have no clue what to do with this issue. Please help me because I don't want to fully depend on AI. I feel so embarrassed over asking such a silly doubt.

I am just fed up with this.

In my web-novel, starting from the chapter GALS, I have noticed a spike increase of the purple underlines.

For those who don't know, here's a picture of a small extract from my drafts.

On a free account, you get a certain amount of usage of the premium features per day.

In the beginning, the first couple of chapters barely had any purple lines, just like in the picture.

BUT from that chapter onwards, it drastically increased to the point that 3–4 paragraphs were just purple lines.

It's got to the point that my whole paragraph are just AI generated text.

Hell, even my chapters are 3/4th of it is like AI.

Sure, my paragraphs are polished, but it's taking me days to get all those purple lines to be removed.

I could ignore those lines, but I want to have a good quality of chapters to be read and enjoyed.

But, I can't just rely on just this.

What are your thoughts and advices? Could there be any alternatives to it?

Most suggestions are pointless tbh. Your original wording, assuming no mistakes, will usually be good enough most refinements past this point must be made with plot/setting/pacing in mind. However AI just averages it out to the most common good grammar which can kinda kill the spirit in your words.

Instead of treating it as an editor, treat the AI as a tool. Consider its changes, compare it to yours, then see if a change should/needs to be made. If it does try note what you want to get out of the passage and see if the AI’s suggestion fits your goal. If it doesn’t try rewording/rewriting the passage yourself and repeating.

It is important to note that AI tools are prone to hallucinations, especially when it comes to the arts. It might see an issue that isn’t there, ignore one that is, and have ridiculous suggestions for a change. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if the website owners are having their AI’s point out as many ‘flaws‘ as possible so that they can get more paid members.

I have used to use Grammarly, but it's more limited to Wordtune.

And they don't highlight the mistakes after a certain limit.

But in Wordtune, they do underline the mistakes with purple lines even when you run-out of premium usages.

As a Grammarly user, I can say that anything that is not underlined in red is usually worth ignoring. They tend to oversimplify sentences. If the purple thing is the same as in Grammarly, then just ignore them. It is simply a "tone-checker" which is utterly useless. In most cases.

The suggestion tool is doing its job of suggesting. There's nothing wrong with it. What you lack is the confidence in your intent in the sentences. It's your job as a writer to show the intent through the writing. You need to ask yourself "is that suggestion the intentionless machine is giving correlate with what I have in my mind?" If yes, integrate, if not, ignore. You make choices, not the tool. The tool just does what it supposed to do, what matters is your intent.

Yes, even I faced something like this before.

There was this phrase in my chapter that everybody uses, but the AI considered it wrong.

I feel like you can read my latest chapters and see for yourself of how much AI corrected it.

Usually, they reframe my sentences, generate suitable synonyms, improve clarity, etc. Even after I use up all the premium usages, I can still continue to correct until the purple line disappears.

Grammarly does highlight your mistakes?

It does to a certain limit.

I am not 100% sure as I don't use it as often as before.

That's why I was embarrassed to make this thread.

From what I've seen, lots of AI flags writing styles. It picks up on the first writing flow you have an applies it to the rest of the text document. Like, if it thinks you begin with a formal style of writing, it'll continue to recommend switching and/or changing the remainder of the text document to a formal style of writing. Ex. if you use "I do not." in one part of the text and then later on use "I don't." then it'll most likely flag the latter to change it to the former. It's probably flagging consistency. That's my guess. I don't use AI nor do I depend on it either. I use friends to read over my stuff or I do it myself after taking a break.

You're right! I have noticed such inconsistencies like that in some of my drafts.

I wish I could rely on my friends, but the thing is they all use brain-rot terms. And I, for one, am still learning English as my third language. So, that's rough.

I see. I'm personally too shy to share my work with friends, so I typically just deal with the work myself. Maybe there's a group on here for proofreading? I would offer, but I work sixty hours a week, so I wouldn't be able to promise my brain would be quick enough for what you need help with ?
